How to Save Money at Yasson Michele DVM

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I constantly recommend Dr Yasson to anyone that has a pet with health issues, even and especially cancer. I first went to see Dr Yasson with an 8 year old rescue named Marley. The day after we adopted her our vet found a lump in her breast. At first we did a lump removal but it quickly came back. Next we did a mastectomy but 8 lumps appeared just 2 months later in the area that the breast used to be. All those lumps were removed. And then another breast had a lump. An acquaintance told me about Dr Yasson and I was skeptical. I changed how Marley ate and began to give holistic meds to Marley. She lived another 3.5 years cancer free and died of old age. Dr yasson has helped us many times with all kinds of things. Of course we still go to the conventional veterinarian and they share records with each other. The "regular" vet was sure the 15 year old poodle we adopted was dying. His liver and kidney tests were off the charts and he was very ill. Dr Yasson cleaned his system and in 1 month everything was normal. Milton is still here and he is 18 1/2 years old. I am so thankful for Dr Yasson.

Michelle Yasson of HolVet is amazing! Who wouldn't want what's best for their beloved furkidz? Our Story=a little over 9 years ago was my 1st encounter of this very personal and kind HOLISTIC Veterinarian. My Zeus, a Cane Corso, with arched back & unable to stand flat on his hind feet, apparently had severe ACL damage and was requiring immediate surgery [per my *regular Go-To Vet]. I chose to a find second opinion & seek alternative less invasive solutions for such a young (1+ year old) pup. Enter Michele Yasson = Clearly a vibrant, funny, witty selection of the Holistic approach. Our Consultation was informative. Then, She examined Zeus & offered a non invasive solution. Our visit was clear & informative, explaining our choices. Michelle mixed up a *secret potion sent Zeus & I along the way with careful instructions and said.. "keep me posted to your observations" Now.. I won't go into details & give up her secrets; HOWEVER, I can assure you she saved my Zeus from enduring that horrific non-guaranteed surgery! He's now going to be 10 and we never looked back at that injury; (OKAY=except to pass along the Michelle Yasson HOLISTIC Solutions to people we meet when they are accompanied by a Furkid & the conversation leads to this.) I certainly hope they followed thru with at least a consultation. Michelle Yasson also has healthy solutions to many other standard veterinary approaches ie: Rabies titer alternative to over-vaccination 3 year rabies booster. Also=different schedules for Heartworm prevention dosing. She's AMAZING! Don't hesitate, your furkid is worth it. Oh,by the way, I hear she also has wonderful Holistic approaches/solutions for us Bi-Peds too.

In the six years I have known Dr. Yasson she has proven herself to be extremely knowledgable and compassionate. Each and every pet is treated as her own. When my puppy had Lyme Disease she treated him successfully and quickly. When other issues arose she was happy to work with me in a holistic fashion, but was wise enough to know when an allopathic treatment was needed. Dr. Yasson is an incredible resource who is happy to share her knowledge and can be easily reached from anywhere. Phone consultations are a bonus, especially in these busy times. I highly recommend her!

Love, Love, Love Dr. Yasson!! She has cared for all my pups for the last 20+ years, and they all live(d) happy, healthy, and extended lives. She is so wise, caring, thorough, kind - she has worked through many issues (medical & behavioral) with my pups, and they are so much better as a result. She is always available for her clients, and I know I can reach her in an emergency. She is also very kind and caring to the pet owners too. I recommend her to all my friends and rescue contacts without reservation.
