We came two separate times for my mother’s dog. She lives in Queensbridge housing and is a senior. We made our appointment and came because her dog, Benny, had a very bad skin condition. They gave us an antibiotics and special wipes. His skin issue is gone. I purchased two separate creams on-line and they did not work. Thank god the people at the ASPCA in Long Island City helped us with his skin issue. Second time was an emergency. Benny was not breathing properly and his tongue was blue. He was originally hiding from us and he was scared. We went without an appointment. We thought we would be turned away but they took us. We had to wait but we did not care. The Dr. saw Benny and said he needed an X-Ray. They made the appointment, that same day, and sent us in an Uber to the ASPCA West 92nd Street location. Benny got the X-Ray but fought the staff. He stopped breathing but they were able to save him. Benny is a toy chihuahua and small dogs like him can have trachea issues. Dr. Ang showed us the X-Ray. He said we would try medication. Benny was put on 4 medications. He spent the night and I picked him up the next day. My mother’s bill was so low. They saw him, did the X-Ray, gave him oxygen, kepted him over night, and gave us the (4) medications for a very low price. The original bill was $525.00 but my mother paid $100.00 due to her financial situation. Plus the ASPCA in Long Island City has never charged her for anything. I’m so glad the ASPCA is here in Long Island City. They are very professional and try to do the best they can with the equipment they have.
