How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Rochester Emergency Veterinary Services

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

My fiancé and I contacted five other places that were at capacity when our dog needed care. This clinic saved us from having to drive all the way to Buffalo or Syracuse. Although we had to wait, the staff was attentive, kind, and informative. I genuinely felt they did their best to accommodate us as quickly as possible while prioritizing pets with more urgent needs. I’m so thankful to have this office close by to us!

Had an emergency with our family cat that we just wanted to have looked at to determine if driving to Buffalo or Syracuse was necessary to take him to for immediate care. Called 3 times asking if there was anything they could do and they essentially refused to even let us bring him in, suggesting we go to Buffalo. Which we ended up doing and getting no care there either because all they were going to do was diagnostic tests that we should've been able to get done anywhere else. Really disappointed with the lack of support we got from these people. Hope our pets don't have another emergency, because we're obviously not going to get any help here.

The staff members are kind, compassionate, and professional. Despite being at max capacity in a stressful environment, employees remained calm and friendly with visitors and pet owners calling with emergencies. The prices are fair, especially considering they offer instant medical assistance. I highly recommend this hospital.

All 3 emergency vets in Rochester were at capacity last Saturday evening. They said my choices were Buffalo or Corning. She died halfway to Buffalo. Rochester needs better emergency care.

We can’t recommend Rochester Emergency Veterinary Services enough. Every single person we spoke to was so kind and thoughtful. They called us with updates frequently, keeping us updated on our cat’s prognosis. Our cat, George, eventually had to have surgery and they called before and after to let us know how he was doing. The Dr. was great in explaining everything to us and allowing us to ask as many questions as we needed. We are so thankful for the entire staff here and are so grateful they were able to save George 🩷
