How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Fordham Veterinary Clinic

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

The vet is Ehren Seth Yablon. From the NJ Attorney General's office announcement on 10/28/2025: "Essex County Veterinarian Agrees to Permanently Retire from Practice to Resolve Allegations That His Inadequate Treatment Resulted in the Deaths of Several Animals in His Care" Do you want your pets in his care?

I was happy to see there was a vet clinic in the neighborhood. But after coming in for a visit I regretted it. I initially came in asking about the price for spaying for both of my cats. I was told first we need to do a check up and vax and THEN I would be able to drop them off for surgery. I scheduled the check up and vax and went through with it for 60$ (each). Then I asked what’s next with the surgery and only then was the 500$ price disclosed to me. I felt deceived because this was something I asked about before everything. In terms of how the vet treated my pets I hated to watch. He moved carelessly and so quickly, that he vaccinated my 4month old kitty without taking the air out of the syringe, I quickly asked if he was supposed to not check for air and confirmed he should’ve. I was scared at this point and then it was time for my 5 year old cat, he took a bit more time this second time. But that doesn’t make him innocent for the first. There was no reason for rushing, the shop was empty. The intake was rushed, reason why I didn’t get the right info. And the communication was POOR.

Got a fast appointment same day and brought a small kitten, the doctor determined his age, sex and condition quickly. He had all the medicines needed for the treatment. Best of all it was at an affordable price.

This vet has gotten his license suspended in New Jersey. I took my puppy to see him when her leg was accidentally fractured he showed no compassion and was unnecessarily rough. He ordered an xray just to send us home with pain killers.
