How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Integrative Animal Care

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

We have nothing but amazing things to say about Dr. Tina. She is incredibly intelligent and truly cares about every animal that walks through her door. Our puppy had significant vaccine reactions, when other vets told us there was nothing they could do, doctor Tina effortlessly gave us a protocol that started helping our pup immediately. We have no problem making the drive to see her from NYC, she is that good!!

This place is worth the 90 minute drive I take when I need to go. Dr. Tina is exceptional and extremely smart and is focused on preventive care and the ongoing health, as well as curing my dog, if need be. Ronda and Nancy are wonderful and sweet and very knowledgeable as well - everyone treats me with great respect. Let alone what a beautiful place - a farmhouse and barn in the country with horses, no less.

I became interested in finding integrative veterinary care for my 5 cats, especially after researching how manufactured cat food causes all kinds of health issues, and my cats were indeed having issues even with premium natural food. Dr. Tina did a more thorough examination of the animals than any previous vet. She detected a back injury in one of the cats that had gone undiagnosed previously. She suggested some supplements for some of the cats, but did not try to push anything, and is helping walk me through their diet adjustment. I found her to be extremely knowledgeable, thorough, and very sensitive to the animals' point of view!

I brought my chocolate lab to Dr. Tina about a year ago because of a cough and hip issues. She diagnosed him with all sorts of things like pleckner syndrome and thyroid disease. Over time she had him on pages of differnet medications and supplements that were laborious to administer and very expensive. After several months, he started to become ravenously hungry and dropped weight really quickly. She suggested more medical procedures that we did but he was still loosing weight. She was forgetful of what we had already done with him and grew extremely irritated whenever I questioned her lengthy treatment plan. The last straw came when she told me he 'may' have pancreatitis and instructed me to fast him and commit him to her hospital, which increased his weight loss to the point where even my neighbors couldn't recoginze him. Questioning her again, she almost kicked us out of her building at a time where she said he may have this life threatening pancreatitis issue. I decided I needed to get a second opinion and with one blood test the new vet realized Dr. Tina had significantly over medicated his thyroid, which was causing the weight loss. The new doctor didn't even believe my dog had ever had pancreatitis. We took him off 95% of the medications Dr. Tina had prescribed and it has taken us months to undo the negative effects of her medical opinion. Dr. Tina was at best negligent and rude, and at worst conducted illegal malpractice causing my dog to become extremely ill for her own profit. I do not recommend anyone go to her for the care of their animal.
