How to Save Money at Pet Health Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I have two giant breed dogs - one is a very vocal older gentleman who has a LOT to say, the second is a very anxious puppy scared of people. Pet Health has really been wonderful every step of the way with both pups - Dr. Lewis and Dr. DeVilbiss are amazing, caring vets. They will go to great lengths to help, explain, treat, educate. I’ve been coming here 2+ years and will not switch ever :-) This vet also incorporates many anti anxiety steps for dogs - pheromones, music, treats, approach of the techs and vets is AMAZING. They are reasonably priced - and probably the best veterinary office I’ve been to in my 20 years of owning pets. Also, Madison the vet tech goes way above and beyond for pets and owners. Thank you for all you do!!!!

This is my absolute favorite vet hospital I have ever been too. From compassionate care as they helped me say goodbye to a dog, to caring for two new dogs we have, these guys have been amazing in every single possible way. I can’t say enough about the staff here and the way this clinic is run. This is how it should be done.

I have to compliment this office and the AMAZING Dr. Devilbiss! What a wonderful experience with my anxious golden retriever today! I followed our vet Dr Devilbiss to this animal hospital from another. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Devilbiss as our vet. I trust her, she gives wonderful advice, instructions, and does what is best for your baby. I LOVE her, she is the best vet in Las Vegas! Being a healthcare provider myself, I am picky. She is honest, saved my girl Cali’s life and eye twice now. She is a gem, super caring, and you would be so lucky to have her to take care of your babies!

If you're a pet owner considering this clinic, please read my experience carefully before making a choice that could put your beloved pet in grave danger. Our ordeal began with a routine pre-surgery blood test for our dog. A simple procedure turned into a chain of confusion and negligence, leading to three blood tests within a week, each visit more alarming than the last. The horrifying revelation came when the vet admitted they might have mixed up our dog's blood with another's. This wasn't just an inconvenience; it was a gross negligence that could have had catastrophic consequences for both our pet and the other dog involved. What if the other dog, with an actual blood abnormality, was given the all-clear? What if a serious underlying condition went untreated because of this unthinkable mistake? The implications are terrifying and far-reaching. This is not a matter of a simple error or oversight. This is a failure at the most basic level of care and responsibility, and it has shaken us to our core. The Nevada Veterinary Board is taking our complaint seriously and will be investigating this matter. But in the meantime, I urge you to consider the potential risks of entrusting your pet's life to this clinic. Behind the modern and trendy façade lies an operation where the most essential protocols can be breached, and the wellbeing of your pet can be gambled away. This isn't Las Vegas entertainment; this is real life, where the stakes are the lives of our family members. I'm sharing our story not out of spite but out of a deep concern for other pet owners who might unknowingly walk into a situation that could end in heartbreak. Our trust has been shattered, and we have returned to our previous vet, thankful for their professionalism and care. Choose wisely. Look beyond appearances. Your pet's life is too precious to risk in the hands of those who have shown such blatant disregard for the most basic tenets of veterinary care.

This is the best veterinarian in the entire Las Vegas valley. I was with another facility in Henderson and they were not great at all. My pets see Dr Clarke and she is amazing, kind, professional, smart and patient as all can be. I love this place and will never think of seeing anyone else. I spoke to Dr Clarke about cleaning my cats teeth (which need to be done) and when she thought about it she said its more important to get my cats weight down before cleaning his teeth. She then stated that my cat losing weight before going under will lessen the risk of complications. The reason I tell this in the review is because she took my baby's life into mind over being able to charge for a procedure and that means the world to me. I understand that she doesn't own this facility however her actions portray how the veterinarians office is run.....animals over dollars.
