How to Save Money at Legacy Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I have a Ferrell Cat. I rescued the cat so the Coyotes would not kill it. I've not had the cat for almost 2 years. Took him Legacy Veterinarian Hospital and I will say this , THE BEST. He got his second Rabie Shot, Lab Work , Nails Trimmed and Groomed. I'm so glad I went to this Veterinarian Hospital because this cat needed everything they did . He now looks like a little kitten and im glad he has no more mats on him either. With this sun in Nevada I know he will stay cooler now too. Thank you so very much Legacy Animal Hospital for taking great care of Greystone, Your The BEST !!!

Helped my friend take her two, very large dogs, here. One needed booster shots and the other had an ear problem. All the staff were fabulous! Very caring. The veterinarian was very thorough, patient, and caring. The facility was very clean and had no "animal" ordors. Took a pic of the dogs as we loaded them back into the vehicle. So cute!

There isn't a vet in Henderson or Vegas that I would take my 14 month old mastiff babies to other than legacy. Every member of their staff are so caring and knowledgeable. Vet tech Jade is stellar, and my baby boy has a hard crush on her. He will follow her anywhere in the clinic she wants his to go. After his neuter, he was crying out something terrible. ( I believe it was more that we left him and his sister for the 1st time vs pain) but Jade laid down on the floor and comforted him and soothed him until he calmed down. She was nice enough to send this very nervous mama a quick video via text that my babies were ok. I highly recommend this clinic for your fur babies, they see kitties in a separate part of the clinic as well. Hands down the best clinic in the area. The Dr's are truly amazing as well.

This about the third time I've came to Legacy for my dogson Ickis. Every time I've came they've always been very accommodating and sweet to my boy. We came in recently for some ear meds because I noticed he was scratching and shaking his ears alot. The doctor / vet assistant were very nice and informative. They'll take the time to answer any questions u may have (make sure u know what u want to ask because they are busy) . Thank you for handling my dog with care Legacy. Staff - 5 out of 5 Doc - 5 Atmosphere- 4 Overall - 5

Dr.Chad Bower used to be my vet for one of my dogs several years ago and I realized he is actually an amazing vet, with an actual passion for helping animals and with a good heart. Didn't try and upsell any unnecessary treatments or products and I trusted him with my fur kid many times! I have learned that he is now here-at Legacy animal hospital and since I normally go to the vet when I have some type of emergency that can't wait I haven't been able to get a same day appt with dr.bower and so I haven't been here yet. I have however called many times trying to find out the soonest appt and the staff Is so great and helpful and takes the time to listen and I feel overall as helpful as possible over the phone. I recommend this place already-becauase I know dr.bower to be a genuinely great vet who cares about animals and i believe-people too!! :)
