How to Save Money at Advanced Veterinary Care

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I visited Advanced Veterinary Care for the first time with my cats Skit and Chloe for their annual shots. Dr. Tiffany Pierce oversees the general visits and her being there is the reason we went in. She has been our doctor for over a year and a half at this point. She was there for us during a particularly difficult time last year when my male cat had a urinary blockage and he spent a week under her care. Dr. Pierce is the most amazing doctor we’ve had the pleasure of meeting. She is kind, patient, knowledgeable, sincere, the list can go on.. she’s essentially everything good in human form! :) We trust and appreciate Dr. Pierce so much that we travel with our cats from Los Angeles just so they can have their checkups with her. That’s a long drive with cats but we’ll continue to make the trips with them a couple times a year if it means Dr Pierce is our doctor (although I do wish we could clone her and have her closer to us). The facility itself was clean and the waiting area is spacious. There’s a dog side and a cat side, which I thought was neat. Prices are great! The staff was kind. We’ll definitely be back in the future, especially since Dr. Pierce is there.

The practice is now open to regular veterinary care, with Dr. Pierce, in addition to their surgucal specialty, since April 2023. I had my first visit 7/31 & was completely delighted with the office, receptionist, and Dr. Tiffany Pierce. It was a calm experience as they aren't overbooked. The doctor and took what felt like the right amount of time to evaluate, discuss and resolve the issues. I highly recommend them.

From the moment we called Advanced Veterinary Care to inquire about surgery for our 106 lb Boxer mix, I could tell we were going to be in great hands. Shay (reception and front manager) was so kind and since I was nervous about surgery for Riley, she said Dr. Bradberry would call us and answer questions. Since we live 3 hours away, I wanted to get all the answers ahead of the date of surgery. Dr. Bradberry did call, soon, and was so kind and patient with all our questions and concerns. Rily required ACL (ligament) surgery. They day we brought Riley in, we were greeted by staff and Dr. Bradberry. He thoroughly evaluated and then prepped for surgery. About 4 hour later Riley was out of surgery, and Dr. Bradberry called us giving us a report on how things went (very well). The technicians helped us lift Riley into the car and we went home. Due to Dr. Bradberry's very helpful online videos and instructions, we were able to follow the recovery protocol and Riley recovered fully. He is now fully recovered and able to walk long walks, play, and enjoy his life again. Being an older dog (9 and a half years old) we were so pleased at his recovery and how the surgery took years off. Very thankful to Dr Bradberry and his whole staff. Not only for the great work but for their kind attitudes and professionalism. We HIGHLY recommend!

My Wife and I came to Advanced veterinary services because our older dog was very sick. Unfortunately we decided it was time to send him over the rainbow bridge. Everyone there was wonderful to us. They definitely showed their compassion and love for our boy. They explained everything to us and what to expect. We are new to this area and this will be our new vet for our other dog. Thank you to everyone there.

Tank had the TTA-2 procedure performed on his left leg Feb :2020 and his right leg October 2022. Each time Dr. Bradberry and his staff were extremely professional ensuring we were well informed and prepared for Tank’s pre and post op care. Tank is now back to doing his favorite activity, playing ball.
