How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Desert Willow Veterinary Service

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I work for the national park service and they care for all 8 of our pack mule and our 2 horse. The veterinarian is extremely knowledgeable and keeps excellent records on our animal that can be easily referenced. The stay is very pleasant and easy to work with.

My husband and I found a bird that wasnt doing so well. I asked everyone in town here in Carlsbad if they knew of a place that would help. Everyone immediately said Desert Willow. I called right away and without hesitantion they told me to bring the bird in. I will be calling this morning to see if the little guy made it or not. But I must say the process of intake was extremely fast and courteous. They were very thankful. They assured they would do everything they could to save him! I recommend this place to every and all that need any kind of care for your animals. Very friendly and they make you feel welcomed!

Wow, a vet in Carlsbad that actually cares more about the pet than the pocketbook. They helped me find an organization that helped me pay for my service dog shots so I could get an apartment. They certainly didn't put a guilt trip on me like the other 2. I didn't even know they were there till a friend told me. On Fiesta at the old Zoo, support this caring business.

Had to take my dog to say goodbye unexpectedly. The staff was very kind and helpful even though they were about to close. I appreciate how understanding they were with us during such a difficult time.

I have never been able to use them maybe about 5 years ago and I loved their svc but after that, they've never been able to be contacted and finally when I did they said , no new patients... Which was a few days ago... I think svc might just be for large animals such as horses...they might need xtra staff but the public should be informed as such..
