How to Save Money at Thrive Pet Healthcare Urgent Care - Turnersville

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

To start off I would like to thank every single staff member that was involved with taking care of my dog Winston. A couple weeks ago he cut his leg running around. As soon as I noticed I called Thrive to see if they could see him, they immediately told me to bring him in and calmed me down and ensured me if they couldn’t handle it they would help me figure out where to take him next. I brought him in we were checked in and brought him back within minutes. They were very patient with him due to his high anxiety. They had to give him a sedative to be able to examine him and to close up the wound. Before they did anything with him they went over all the possible risk factors and went over how much bill was prior to doing anything. They walked me through step by step what was going to be done. All of the staff members were super compassionate and took the time to make sure he was comfortable before proceeding. They were able to close up his leg and he was sent home with a couple medications. A couple days later I brought him back because I thought he popped his stitches, he didn’t just the way the skin was healing. I took him back and they brought him back in again and checked his leg. They were able to give him a different topical medication for his leg and since he’s been recovering without any issues. I can confidently say that having such an amazing group so close to home is very comforting and I can’t not recommend Thrive urgent care enough. Again Thank you to every staff member from the front desk all the way to the Docs they are all wonderful and truly want to help.🤍

Blue Heeler Mom

I couldn’t be more happier with this place. First they saved my baby dog. Not sure what was wrong w her but she was throwing up so bad out of the blue and straining so bad while she threw up. Couldn’t hold any water down so it scared me to death. First I called the office the receptionist walked me through exactly what to expect coming in. The nurse (not sure the vet terms) Alexa was wonderful she explained everything down to the T what my estimate entailed. The vet explained everything in great detail what she thinks may have been the issue since the xray didn’t show much. My baby dogs nurse came back in gave her some hydration and nausea meds answered all of our concerns and what to expect throughout the night if she’s not better in the morning please bring her back in and I must say I was pretty impressed with their prices being an emergency clinic on a Sunday! I am super ThankFul to say my puppy was better by the time we got home and even ate her rice and chicken! It really is times like these when you need not only good vets/dr/nurses/caretakers but you need good human beings. Thank you all so much for making my baby feel so much better and thank you for being wonderful at your jobs and In general wonderful people! No idea how much my husband and I appreciate those who helped make our baby girl feel better whether it was just a tummy ache and I over reacted or not she is fine and that’s all that matters!!!! Love Mocha’s mommy and daddy!

I can’t say enough great things about Thrive Urgent Care. My dog Lily woke up in the morning breathing heavily, restless and a bad ear infection. My regular vet could not get us in with it being a Saturday and recommended calling here and I am so happy I did. Every staff member was SO nice and thoughtful. My dog has pretty bad vet anxiety, and they were extremely patient with her. We almost immediately were brought back to a room upon arrival and the vet tech (didn’t get her name, but she was amazing) took extra time to answer any and all of our questions regarding medicine administration and helped us give Lily her first dose. The vet, Dr. Reitmeyer, throughly explained how to best treat Lily and gave us a few different options to choose from based on what we were comfortable with. She even took the time to answer a question we had about our other pet. Knowing Lily was anxious, the staff went the extra mile by drawing her blood in the room we were already in instead of moving her to an area without us. They even gave us anxiety meds for future vet visits. Pricing was fair, and we will be returning there for the recheck rather than our regular vet because of such a positive experience. Do not hesitate to use them!!! 10/10. My Lily is already feeling much better.

I can’t say enough good things about my experience at Thrive Pet Healthcare Urgent Care of Turnersville. I came in absolutely panicked about my Mala's condition, and from the moment I walked in, I was met with nothing but kindness, compassion, and professionalism. Dr. Elena Reitmeyer and Vet tech Alexa went above and beyond to not only care for my pet but to also calm me down and help me feel supported through the entire process. Dr. Reitmeyer was incredibly gentle, informative, and truly compassionate. Alexa was kindhearted, reassuring, warm, and made me feel like my pet was in the best hands possible. It’s rare to find a place that treats both the animal and the owner with this level of empathy and care. I’m so grateful for their help and I can confidently say that I’ll be a forever customer. Thank you, Thrive Turnersville team, for being there when I needed you most.

The Thrive Pet Healthcare Urgent Care in Turnersville was a blessing! An answer to prayer! My Chihuahua had a big swollen bump under her chin. She didn't want to eat and was very lethargic. She will probably need dental surgery but for now she is feeling much better and she wants to eat again! The Vet and Techs were AWESOME!!!
