How to Save Money at South Jersey Cat Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Bell is simply the best. She takes her time with my cats. Also is very compassionate and genuine. The staff there are awesome even the friendly house cat that greets you at the front desk.

Just came from our first visit with Dr. Bell and staff. My girl nougat has been having issues with vomiting for the last year. I have taken her to multiple appointments for testing in the past and felt like we were just treating the symptoms rather than getting to the cause. Dr.Bells examination was very thorough and A lot of time was spent for examination as well as discussion of findings. You can tell how much the entire staff enjoys working with cats by their interaction and how they were able to manage nougat (feisty at times). I feel like I am getting answers and we are on the right track to helping nougat. I can see the difference in going to a vet that specializes solely with cats and it is well worth it. 😺

I just had the best experience at South Jersey Cat Clinic! I scheduled two of my less social, very scared, older kittens (10 months old) based upon a friend's experience there(Thanks Amber St. Clair!). I was nervous Queenie and White Paws wouldn't handle an exam well and wanted to make sure that they would be able to get everything they needed once at an exam visit. From start to finish the visit was wonderful. I scheduled over the phone and spoke with the kindest, most patient woman. I work two jobs so trying to schedule anything is a hassle but she did not make me feel rushed over the phone or like I was a bother going back and forth with dates/times. Once I arrived we were taken right back to a room, no waiting at all. Two technicians handled the kittens and went slow with each part of the exam so they could gauge how the kittens were doing and make them as comfortable as possible. The technicians did an over all look at the kittens including weight, temperature, and nail trims! My two babies were wrapped like little burritos and did so well for everything including a very thorough hands-on exam by Dr. Bell. I was able to stay with them the entire visit even during bloodwork. Everything that was being done was explained to me, as well as Dr. Bell going over her recommendations for their treatment plan and allowing any questions to be asked and addressed. We are scheduled to go back in a week with the other kitten, my very scared girl named Little Head, and I am feeling so much less stressed about bringing her knowing how excellent the staff is and how she will be treated so well. Also, the facility is very clean, smells good, and is decorated so cute! There is also the sweetest orange office cat who loved getting pets and attention😻 Thank you so much Dr. Bell and SJCC staff!

First time visiting here after adopting two kittens. My wife and I were recommended to go here by the adoption center and we couldn’t be happier! Everyone was very friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and made the experience very easy. We will definitely be using them in the future and would highly recommend them!

One of the best doctors in town, we used to go to the Cat Clinic of Cherry Hill, Dr McCauley is one of the best in New Jersey. This doctor is on that same level, since we moved to this side of town we used to go to another vet just down the road from here, you might know who I'm talking about, all they care about there is money. This doctor truly cares about your animal and helping you any way she can to get your animal healthy. We won't be going anywhere else from now on.
