How to Save Money at South Jersey Cat Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Update: Dr. Bell and her staff are so compassionate and great. They are so careful and considerate with our special needs cat, Braille, who is blind and has epilepsy. Combined with her specialized care we are confident she is getting the best treatment possible in our area. WORTH THE TRIP!! ——— Dr. Bell is incredible! She is so thorough and careful with our furbabies. Absolutely would recommend this practice to anyone with a cat!

We recently switched to South Jersey Cat Clinic. My cat Lainey is a spicy girl and isn’t the easiest cat to deal with. Dr. Bell and her all of her staff are great with her. We drive an hour to have her seen here and it’s worth it.

I was researching and inquiring about getting my cat spayed. Maddie at Dr. Bells office was very patient and friendly with me while we corresponded via E-mail. She was detailed with me instead of super short answers. Made me comfortable which is why I am going to be scheduling with them. Looks like I am making the right choice after seeing all the good reviews.

Dr Bell and her team are beyond amazing! They treat Willow so nice and examine her on her terms with care and love. I’ve never experienced a vet visit like I did at the South Jersey Cat Clinic. Just over the top amazing! The entire team is so friendly, knowledgeable and is patient with all your questions! I just wish I had found their office sooner! Willow is still on the path to recovery but she’s already doing so much better! It brings me such comfort to have found a place that cares so much about the pets and families they treat. Here’s a picture showing how happy Willow is after her 2nd visit today hanging out with her toys and enjoying some sun after getting a couple more shots!

Please forgive me for this post will be long. I was recommended to Dr. Bell by a coworker of mine. She knew the physical and financial struggles I had with my senior cat and the lack of empathy from vets. I only saw Dr. Bell for a short period of time due to moving out of NJ and moving up north to NH for a better life opportunity. While I was a client she was very compassionate about my girl, Mimi. Mimi was very afraid of anything and everyone. She would give her treats to distract her and she wouldn’t smother her. She wanted her to feel comfortable and safe. She even wrapped her in a blanket and made her look like a burrito to make her feel safe when she got her Solensia monthly injections. Financially I was lower income, but Dr. Bell was gracious and tried to help anyway she could with my income restrictions. I couldn’t have asked for a better vet. I actually felt, and still feel, like I will never find another vet like Dr. Bell. Someone who puts the animal before the money. I will forever be grateful for Dr. Bell and her cat only clinic. Sadly, my sweet girl passed away last Tuesday, July 23, 2024. I truly believe it was because we weren’t getting the proper care for my girl. Thank you Dr. Bell for everything you did, for me and my girl. If we could have relocated back to NJ, we absolutely would have. If you need a safe place to bring your cat, she is the doctor. Her love for cats really does show in her work and the environment she has in her office. All of the workers were kind, friendly and caring. Really great staff, really great Dr. you will not regret or be disappointed switching to Dr. Bell. You will honestly ask yourself, why haven’t you found her sooner!!!!
