How to Save Money at The Kindness Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

There truly are angels on earth as The Kindness Animal Hospital proves just that. We are not regulars of the facility and found ourselves in desperate need of end of life care for our dog on an emergency basis. The kind and special people here took us in immediately and saw to our needs in such a compassionate manner that it has restored our faith in humanity. I could go on and on but just felt it appropriate to share our personal experience when we were down and out. The review wouldn't be complete without a special mention of two very special people Scott and Ken who treated us with respect and dignity as though we were family. These two perfect gentleman made our dog Friskies transition as peaceful and comforting as humanly possible. For the above and more we will be eternally grateful for such fine and outstanding people.

We’ve been to this veterinary practice multiple times over the years for both our dog and cats and have had both great experiences and not great experiences, however, I’m going to review fresh for the most recent experience we’ve had here. We had just returned from a cross country trip where towards the end our pup had somehow gotten an infected eyelid. We took him to an urgent vet before we had gotten back about a week prior and they prescribed a treatment that had not even touched it, and so of course we were still if not more concerned and so we called to see if we could get in, which fortunately we were able to within just a couple of days. I like their system now of not waiting in the inside with all these dogs and cats together but where they can be comfortable with us until they’re ready to be seen by the vet. The best though was Dr. Julie Adams who listened, looked, and prescribed a highly effective treatment that saw positive results within just days. We’re nearing the end of the treatment and he’s doing excellent and we’re so thankful. Another huge positive is that the pricing was fair and reasonable, which is also important to us that we are able to get treatment for our pets for a universally fair and reasonable cost. He’s doing so much better though after we’d been trying to address this for weeks and that’s what’s most important and we’re thankful.

Every experience we've had with Kindness has been filled with kindness, compassion, respect and care. The doctors an staff are amazing and dedicated. Emergencies have been handled like nowhere else. Our most recent experience was due to our dog finding a bat in the backyard and needing a rabies booster- she's a bit of a diva and was treated as such 🤣 I wouldn't take our dogs anywhere else :)

They were wonderful when our Princess was having issues and then ultimately had to be brought over the rainbow bridge. Kind-hearted and thoughtful employees!

This is the best animal hospital you can go to, I swear. My poor cat had an accident on the way to the vet, as she hates traveling, and when I got there they helped clean up the carrier and even used a special spray to calm her down a bit on the way back. Dr. Adams was incredibly informative and helpful, she took the time to look up my cat's specific food to give me the exact amount to feed her for an ideal weight. They even clipped her nails, and her assistant was also incredibly helpful and kind, he was the one who used the spray in her carrier to ease the trip home.
