How to Save on Veterinary Costs at The Country Veterinary Hospital

Preventive care

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

I brought my basset Ralphie in. He is a rescue dog that was beaten pretty bad and he is afraid of people. I would call him a fear bitter. They took very good care of him and treated him just like any other dog. It's not his fault his was treated so badly most of his life. They were compassionate and caring with him. Most vets wouldn't even see him. Thank you for see him. This is a picture of him on drugs we had to give him. He slept all the way home

I can not say enough good things about this practice. We adopted a stray cat who was originally treated here upon rescue. We used another vet, when the poor cat stopped eating, my regular vet couldn't see him for 2 weeks. Called County Vet and they got him right in. Fast forward to our dog, who still went to the other vet. We got a very serious diagnosis that called for amputation. Our dog already had mobility issues. I needed a second opinion to make sure I made the right decision. Country Vet got her right in, they really explained everything, gave us the information we needed to make an informed hard decision. Sadly, it is a very aggressive form of bone cancer, Country Vet guided us in making the most difficult decision, but one we know is right in both our minds and hearts. Thank you. (Our other vet wouldn't share the test results or answer their calls.) Everyone deserves a vet's office where the staff is kind and professional.

We were on vacation in Lexington when our dog got severely bit. We needed a vet that could see us ASAP and after calling several others that wanted us to drive over an hour away, we called the Country Veterinary Hospital. I explained the situation and they were able to fit us in before they closed at 7pm. They were wonderful with us and the care they provided our sweet boy. I truly cannot thank them enough for their care, we were so scared that we were going to lose our boy. Top notch vet and nurses! Thank you for your help! Love Luca & the Toporek's

I am so incredibly grateful for Dr. McCaskill and her caring staff. I brought my dog Sadie in for an emergency visit after she had been misdiagnosed on several separate occasions by Valley Animal Clinic. She had emergency surgery within 30 minutes of her visit. She had a severe uterine infection that was left untreated by Dr. Emmadi at Valley Animal Clinic. My Sadie survived the surgery but unfortunately, she passed away 10 days later. Dr. McCaskill donated a large portion of funds to help towards her surgery. This animal hospital is amazing, and I am so thankful that I was able to have Sadie for 10 more days after her emergency surgery. I am forever grateful for Country.

Update to my review from 2 weeks ago - (I could not find a way to update the original posting): Since I posted my original review 2 weeks ago, I was contacted by the clinic manager and spoke with the head nurse. After speaking with the nurse, I do feel that my concerns and experience was heard and that they would take the appropriate steps necessary to ensure that this didn’t happen again. I also received a hand written apology from the boarding team member that I had interacted with. I sincerely believe that the Country Vet was sympathetic to my experience and deeply appreciated the feedback so they could make positive changes. Based on how they handled the situation, I will be giving them another try! Which is reassuring because we’ve been with them since we’ve had our dog, and hated the thought of leaving!!
