On Saturday, June 6th, we brought our sweet kitty girl, Lil’ Skinny, in for an urgent care visit. From the moment we arrived, the staff was extremely patient, attentive, and incredibly kind. When we first brought her in, we were hoping for a simple diagnosis, some medication, and to be on our way home with our baby girl. Unfortunately, the universe had other plans. Lil’ Skinny received a diagnosis that ultimately took her from us. Dr. Lewis and her staff were so patient and supportive as we took time to process the news and grieve the unavoidable. We were never rushed into a decision. Instead, we were given all the time we needed to love on, hug, kiss, and say goodbye to our sweet kitten. Dr. Lewis and her team made sure our girl was comfortable and surrounded by nothing but love as she peacefully passed. Afterward, we were given even more time to sit with her and mourn our loss. We chose cremation, and when I returned to pick her up today, I was once again met with kindness and compassion. Our sweet girl’s urn is absolutely beautiful. Thank you, Dr. Lewis, and everyone on your team, not only for your kindness that day, but for going the extra mile to give our baby a peaceful goodbye and to return her to us with such care and dignity. You are truly a blessing. I pray nothing but the best for you and your staff as you continue doing such rewarding, yet incredibly difficult work whether that’s helping save someone’s beloved fur baby or helping guide a family through one of the hardest days of their lives.

So happy I bought my dog here. Noticed he was showing symptoms of an ear infection and of course we’re leaving for vacation… Vet across was SUPER kind, helpful and took us at the end of the day. The team was friendly and kind to both me and my dog, the facility was spotless and the service was great. Would highly recommend, hopefully we don’t have any urgent needs, but will certainly come back here!!!

Everyone at Vet Cross was wonderful when I brought my Cavalier in for an eye issue. The office was very clean, had a friendly atmosphere, and made us feel comfortable right away. I also appreciated the little things, like offering water for both pets and their owners. I'm very picky about who I trust with my Cavalier, and I felt completely at ease with the care we received. It was clear they genuinely care about their patients and the people who bring them in. No one likes having to take their pet to an emergency clinic, but if you need to, I would highly recommend Vet Cross. You won’t find a better team to care for your pet!

I absolutely need to write a review for this office/practice: I have vacationed on Topsail Island for the past few years with my dogs. Last night, my labradoodle was restless unable to sleep with excessive scratching in his ear alongside of crying. I was referred to them with help from my vet back home in Ohio. My original intake call was taken by Cass. She was able to answer my initial questions and advised that it was not a problem for me to bring Echo in to be examined and advised possible wait times, etc. She sent me the intake forms to fill out online. The drive was SO WORTH IT! We were immediately greeted by Cass (who remembered our phone conversation!) and Emilie as we walked in the front door to complete check in. The office was updated, clean, spacious, and all around beautiful with decor. Alli, the vet tech, came out to greet me and Echo, and immediately got on the floor to be on his level. This helped him so much as he is a rescue (and no one knew until I shared his brief life story). Alli was beyond helpful, positive, and comforting to Echo which I have never witnessed before- she definitely is a gifted dog whisperer. She took him back for triage testing, and brought him back. While I was waiting, I saw another vet tech doing the same as Alli did with Echo which was beautiful to witness. We went into the exam room later, and then Alli and Dr. Lewis came in to do a more detailed exam. Again, they were both on the floor- Allie held Echo and softly comforted him and Dr. Lewis was gentle and compassionate. They were able to treat Echo for his ear infection and explained everything to me in detail. Alli even offered me water or coffee while I waited! They even gave me detailed notes to take home for our main vet! The SOAP notes from Dr. Lewis were easy to understand and personalized with such care which was a special touch. Alli walked us to the front desk where Emilie checked us out from the appointment. Echo is doing much better tonight, and will keep them updated after he is seen back home for follow up. I cannot recommend them enough. You can tell the staff enjoys their job and has a passion for animals and their care. As someone who works in a healthcare private practice setting, these folks have set the bar extremely high, and rest assured I will recommend them to anyone here on the island who is in need of excellent, urgent pet care. Vet Cross in Hampstead has been nothing short of a blessing for our family and our Boxer, Bus. He developed a very aggressive tumor on his back left hip, and we were facing multi-week waits just to get a surgical consultation. We called vets in the larger cities and surrounding areas with no luck getting him seen sooner. In just two weeks, the tumor had doubled in size. The thought of waiting several more weeks was terrifying. We were genuinely afraid it could rupture. The stress and helplessness we felt during that time was tough. By pure chance (or maybe for a reason), I mentioned our situation to a client, who told me about Vet Cross in Hampstead. That recommendation changed everything. From the very first phone call, Emilie was incredible. She took the time to truly listen to our situation without interrupting or rushing me. In a moment when we felt overwhelmed and scared, that compassion meant more than she probably knows. Then we met Cass, the hospital manager. She is warm, personable, and incredibly knowledgeable. She made us feel heard, supported, and cared for during one of the most emotional experiences a pet owner can face. Alli, Mandy, and Siera were also wonderful. Kind, attentive, and genuinely caring toward both us and our boy. And then there is Dr. Lewis. Our primary veterinarian refers to her as “Dr. Amazing,” and that title could not be more fitting. When my wife and I were struggling with the fear of losing our dog, Dr. Lewis met us with confidence, honesty, and deep compassion. She gave us hope when we desperately needed it. The same day we brought Bus in, Dr. Lewis was able to schedule him for surgery. The procedure took about four hours, and she successfully removed the entire tumor with clean margins. Impressive considering how deep it was in the tissue. Bus still has a road to recovery ahead, but Dr. Lewis and the Vet Cross team continue to care for him, and for us, with the utmost professionalism and kindness. We never once felt like “just another case.” They treated Bus like family, and that means everything to us, because he can be a bit much to handle at times. LOL! We are beyond grateful to Dr. Lewis and the entire Vet Cross team. Finding them when we did truly felt like an absolute blessing. If you are in need of emergency care or simply searching for a veterinary practice that genuinely cares about both pets and their people, I cannot recommend Vet Cross highly enough. Do yourself, and your furry family member, a favor and give them a call. Thank you, Dr. Lewis. Thank you to the entire Vet Cross team. We are forever thankful for you. ❤️🐾🙏
