Preventive care

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

A huge disappointment. I relocated from Charlotte. I hate I left one of the best vets ever. My dog's health was #1 with her previous vet. I could correspond with her veterinarian through email and phone to get prescriptions (after visits). I would even get a follow up call. Vet always wanted to know how my dog was doing. Choosing Tar River was an option for faster available appointment time. All other vets couldn't see my dog until 2-3 weeks. It was vital we get immediate vet attention. At Tar River the issue was identified (so we thought). I left feeling hopeful. My dog received a month supply of medicine. The medicine stopped working. Two weeks later, same symptoms developed again. I asked if there was an alternate/better medicine available. No one cared to discuss options. I reached out again. No one cared to discuss options. I no longer existed it seems. I believe you get no correspondence unless you are accumulating a bill. I surely am not going to be booking appointments every 2 weeks to discuss the same issue. Once I realized my baby's ongoing issue wasn't important enough to be addressed...I lost respect for this business.

We have been going to Tar River Veterinary for 10+ years. They have always provided excellent care for our dogs. The staff is polite and courteous. I highly recommend them.

I feel as if this vet has no care for the animals they take in. They have the audacity to call themselves a vet, yet declaw their cats that stay at the residence. SICK!! When our cat was diagnosed with FIV, they immediately suggested putting him down. It's been almost two years since then and he has been completely fine. Extremely disappointed.

Absolutely love this place and all of the staff. I cannot say enough about Eileen. She is so caring, patient and helpful. The quality of care given is top notch. The cost is very reasonable.

Dr. Goldman, Eileen and Shelby gave excellent care to our sweet Molly before she crossed over. When Molly had veterinary visits, she was excited to see her girls and get loved by them. I highly recommend Tar River Veterinary Hospital. The quality of care given is above and beyond. The cost is very reasonable.
