How to Save Money at Petfolk Veterinary & Urgent Care - Concord
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I definitely recommend Petfolk to anyone who may be looking for a new vet! I took my grandmothers dog in as my own, as she was unable to care for him due to her age. My dog needed all his vaccines and a dental assessment, Petfolk has accessible hours and i was able to bring him in Sunday after work! The vet tech was very sweet and informative, and even helped me choose preventatives that would fit my price budget. The veterinarian was extremely informative, answered every question i had with ease, and recommended a clinic that would do his dental work and was also budget friendly. She was very kind as well. My dog (who is very anxious) did amazing for his vaccinations and medication! 10/10 recommend :)

At first, I was getting replies in a timely manner and the customer service seemed great — until I asked about possibly being overcharged. After that, my messages were ignored. I paid nearly $80 for just 45 pills — the exact same medication that other local vets charge around $10 for 60 pills, and Chewy sells for a similar low price. I asked for an explanation and received no response whatsoever. Even more alarming, in just two visits I saw two different vets who gave completely opposite assessments of my dog’s heart. The first vet told me his heart sounded great. Just two days later, another vet said his heart wasn’t beating correctly and that he urgently needed a $3,000 EKG. Before she even came back to tell us this, she had called an emergency animal hospital — and they did not seem to think my one-year-old cattle dog was actually having a heart problem at all, nor did they think the test was necessary. Despite that, the vet here insisted on the EKG anyway, only to then say we could “try antibiotics and see how he does in a few weeks,” which left us even more confused. Between the overpriced medication, refusal to address my concerns, contradictory medical information, and pushing for an expensive procedure that even the emergency hospital didn’t think was needed, I feel completely taken advantage of and misled. I paid $200 for a membership that I will now consider a loss, and I will be taking my dog to a trusted local veterinarian who can provide consistent, honest, and evidence-based care. I strongly suggest that anyone considering this clinic do thorough research before making an appointment. Their pricing is not as transparent as they claim, and nearly everything I was quoted here was significantly higher than any other vet in town.

Amazing Veterinary facility, open 7 days a week! Modern, clean, and convenient location. The Petfolk care plan gives me comfort that I will be able to provide care for my pet for years to come! I appreciate the attention and expertise Dr. Caltagarone and her team of doctors and vet assistants provided for my sweet kitty Peeps!

Took one of my pups here today due to some allergy issues, and the staff were absolutely phenomenal. Very nice, informative, and caring. I didn’t feel like I wasn’t being heard, nor did I feel like I was being rushed out the door. They took their time and really cared out both my pup and me. Switching both of my dogs over here for full veterinary services moving forward. Thank you!!

THE STAFF HERE WAS AMAZING!!!!!! Although there was a wait (last min appointment so kind of my fault) everyone me and Sunny came in contact with were just full of such great energy. I was nervous for my dog but I think even he felt the good energy and was able to keep calm while they tended to him. They were even able to accommodate giving him liquid medicine because I know the look on my face said I wouldn’t have been able to give him anything else. While I hope I don’t have to visit here any time soon for anything bad I think me and Sunny would just swing by to say hello if we’re ever in the neighborhood.
