How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Chocowinity Veterinary Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

In the area for vacation and called this vet as a referral from someone local because we were having an emergency with a dog we just rescued from the pound. Jessica answered the phone and not only did she not allow me to finish my sentence before she blurted out “if you aren’t already a client we won’t see you”, she had no idea why I was calling, didn’t ask any questions, didn’t say she was sorry I was having an emergency. Or sorry there were not able to help. When I told he I felt that was extremely rude she placed me on hold just to have someone else come to the phone to say “other people get upset when we let them go on and on then tell them we can’t see them” And then she made more excuses for Jessica. A little empathy goes a long way when dealing with a dying furbaby!!!!!

It’s been a wonderful vet hospital the times I have taken my dogs in the past but when I called I was told they are operating with only one vet at this time and the receptionist was not the friendliest person. She seemed almost bothered by my call. She told me to go to another vets office if I needed anything before sometime in May. I tried explaining my issue of needing to get my pets on flea treatment asap and she said there was nothing more she could do for me and told me to try Pamlico. If you can wait a while to get on their schedule the vets there have been great in the past. If you need something quicker than a couple months out, the receptionist says, call Pamlico.

We've been bringing our dogs here since we moved to Washington. The veterinarians here are all friendly and knowledgeable. They always take great care of our animals and actually take the time to talk to you about your pets and answer any and all questions that you might have, without trying to rush you out of the office.

Whoever they've got answering the phone has to be the business owner or somebody married to the business owner because they wouldn't have a job left otherwise. Nastiest, rudest experience and it was less than a 2 minute call. Don't waste your time with these folks. Plenty of other local vets who are cheaper and friendly.
