How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Banfield Pet Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I recently visited Banfield Pet Hospital with my weary puppy, and the experience was a mix of highs and lows. Kathryn and Jasmine stood out for their exceptional care and consideration towards my pup. Dr. Morgan Box displayed remarkable expertise and handled my puppy with care and professionalism. However, the experience took a sharp downturn when dealing with Cody. Unfortunately, I encountered an exceptionally negative experience with him. He labeled my tired puppy as aggressive and unsocialized, even though she hadn't received all her shots to be properly socialized. His choice of words and attitude were concerning, and it was disheartening to hear him speaking falsely about my pet to others. I believe that Cody's behavior during our interaction was unacceptable. He not only treated us with disrespect but also made my wife cry and belittled our 4-month-old puppy. We're familiar with the hospital's services as we have three dogs on the plan, making this experience even more disappointing. I firmly believe that employees working with animals should display compassion, professionalism, and understanding. Cody failed to meet these standards during our encounter. His actions left me disgusted and deeply unsatisfied with the service he provided. On the other hand, I'm incredibly grateful for the positive experiences with Kathryn, Jasmine, and Dr. Morgan Box. Their care and dedication were commendable, and they made a significant difference in our overall impression of Banfield Pet Hospital. I hope that my feedback can contribute to the improvement of the hospital's services and ensure that future customers do not have to go through a similar ordeal.

I really hate being forced to listen to the brainwashing music, vacuuming, store noise, and being sat there to wait on an uncomfortable hard bench. Being forced to face off with other strangers dogs who are coming and going at the counter is miserable. They choose to leave you out there with your big dog instead of being sat in any of the open rooms that are available. They are always behind schedule. The vets are not USDA certified. They give you a hard time about your dogs weight (you pay to get talked down to). Seeking meds to treat mental health issues with dogs results in a lecture/shaming on training (you pay to get talked down to) and a full on avoidance of prescribing an effective medication (because screwing you for the next few months just means you'll be back again). Good luck getting a teeth cleaning done, there will be excuses. Dirty floors.

I have had Banfields wellness plan for 6 years but it is very difficult to get in to have my girl seen at least in Asheville. The staff tells me there is only one vet. I am not automatically renewing this year. It does me no good to pay about $40 a month if I can't use their services. Yes they have online chat with vet but they don't help much more than googling the issue. Done

lowering my previous review. Customer service at this location is seriously declining. I’ve called several times to try to set an appointment for a sick dog, and they never answer the phone. I get that you’re busy, but in the past, they would pick up and ask “can you hold?” Which I absolutely can, but now you just don’t even pick up. They’ve given me an incorrect dosage for preventatives. They don’t tell you that a Lyme disease vaccine is free with your plan until you have a pet infected with Lyme disease and it’s too late. I’ve gotten a wisdom panel through them and it’s impossible to get my results a month later. I will probably cancel my OWP when the contract is up. Really sad, because I’ve been a member for 8 years.

Took our cat there. They were great with her. Cleaned her ears out and got her rabies shot. Going back next month to get her teeth and gums cleaned. Between the vet and the girls that came in after her were all wonderful.
