How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Gentle Care Animal Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.

Breed Specific Health Considerations

Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.

The vet, Dr. Frank Whitchurch came into the room and was unfriendly/rude from the start. He made no attempt to build rapport with my dog and demanded she be muzzled or put under in order to receive her routine vaccinations. She showed no signs of aggression during the visit so the request was shocking. When asked if it was standard practice he said it was for them and that he was trying to determine if they were a good fit or if we needed to "go down the street". We picked this vet because the place is called "Gentle Care" but we were so disappointed in the care we received.

We had our Australian Shepherd groomed there in late February. Their groomer there, Nichole, did a fantastic job on our dog and he's tough to groom because of the double coat Aussies have and he's, well, extremely fidgety. She also trimmed his feet (nails/hair) and we couldn't be more pleased. Seriously the best grooming job ever on this 10-yr old Aussie.

Dr. Kelly is very loving and gentle, and very informative, when it comes to knowing how to take care of your pet. I've been going to her for years she is a Awesome person. She will explain to you your issues that you are most concerned about, for your pet. I would definitely recommend her as well as Gentle Care Animal Hospital.

Staff is very nice and they are always good about sending notifications on your animals. They always get my dogs and paperwork mixed up though. I was a little worried they would administer the wrong things to each dog.
