How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Vet Plaza Animal Clinic

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

We’ve been going to plaza animal clinic since moving to Hyde park. I don’t care if it was a quick visit, yearly, or calling with a question. They always have been so helpful. We recently put down our sweet girl. They helped me make the difficult decision, stood by my side, gave our entire family a shoulder to cry on. They were beyond sweet and I’m so grateful. I highly recommend the entire staff. We’ve seen several doctors and they all have been very knowledgeable, very kind, and never rushed any of our appointments! Your animal will be in good hands if you choose them!

Dr. Brad has been endlessly helpful with my dachshunds back issues. The acupuncture has been so helpful and Fitz is pain free as a result!

Very kind staff here that wants what's best for you and your pet. You also don't get the vibe here that you're being taken advantage of cost wise which has become so common with private equity buying vet clinics up. They're a business that has to keep the lights on, yes, but it's so comforting to not feel like you're being gouged.

This place has taken great care of our pets. They give options on treatment. They basically gave us and extra year with our dog as we were preparing to put him down, he has since passed but we appreciate their help.

Honestly not so great- I would say this place is mediocre / fine but not amazing. Overall they just seem to charge more and up-charge services maybe because of the convenient office location? I've been to other vet offices that are much more affordable and actually seem to know what they're doing. We brought our dog in and they conducted a urine test which we couldn't even get results on until the next day. However, they sent us home with medication for an assumed UTI before we even had results and wrapped in some additional medications plus food since she was vomiting too. Which is fine- but the whole process just felt like we were signing up for more than we needed before we had a true diagnosis. We declined the food and additional meds to save money because it just felt unnecessary. They called the next day to give results on the urine test- came back negative- so my next logical question is- why are we giving antibiotics if they aren't even necessary? I guess it will treat anything else that could potentially be going on but I certainly won't be returning here and honestly wish I didn't come in the first place but we just moved from out of state and hadn't established a vet yet.
