How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Antioch Dog and Cat Hospital

Preventive care

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

We have 2 senior pets and we spend a fair amount of money and time on their health. Prior to moving to this neighborhood we were paying double what this location charges for an exam fee so we appreciate the affordability. This place is fantastic though! Dr Carr is our primary vet and she really takes her time explaining things to us and laying out options for care. We’ve also seen Dr McLaughlin a couple times in last-minute visits and she is also great to work with. This place is always busy but the admin staff are so kind and helpful on the phone. The turnover time for refilling meds is also very quick, often within an hour or two. I really can’t say enough good things about this place. They treat our pets so well. I’m so thankful we have them for our fur babies!

I can’t say enough about my experience. I have older cats. One cat has diabetes and the other is over weight. They have had the same vet since they were born. I hadn’t ever thought about getting a second opinion. But, My diabetic cats diabetes kept getting worse. I was very frustrated. The only suggestions ever made was continue to increase his insulin. Finally I had enough. I started asking around for a referral. I wanted a second opinion. That’s when I was sent to Dr. Carr’s at Antioch. We went and I told her I didn’t have any expectations. I’m telling you it is night and day. Within a month she had both cats on a different path. She had the diabetic cat’s blood sugar and diet manageable and under control. She put him on new insulin and new diet. Monitors him on a weekly basis. His insulin intake was so high before our appnt with Antioch I wasn’t sure how much longer he would live or I would be able to afford the medication. I’m not saying diabetic treatment is cheap. It is now probably half of what I was spending at the other vet. Also, my original vet had the over weight cat on expensive high end food. With measured portions. He was probably 20 plus pounds for over 10 years. My over weight cat has lost about 5 pounds in about 3 months. Both cats were urinating constantly. Both have decreased the litter box trips. The point isn’t that Dr Carr is a miracle worker. The point is that she listened to me and paid attention. She did all of the tests and labs. Had a plan with different ideas on how to approach their needs. She obviously has knowledge about cats especially diabetic cats. The office staff is always friendly. I have had a great experience. If you ever have doubts I would say get second opinion. Not every vet has the same knowledge base. I would recommend Antioch.

Foxxy was sick and another vet just wanted to treat her for preventative care, didn't address the concern I took her for. Antioch Dog & Cat got me in right away, listened to my concerns, and treated Foxxy with such care. They are so honest and affordable. This is the only place I will take her and my other pets. They did an outstanding job and Dr. Hodges is amazing!!!

I took my very sick senior cat here for the 1st time after not getting answers from my previous vet. Everyone here at this office was very helpful and the doctors were great at being upfront and explaining things. My cat is 15+ and hates vet visits but they were very gentle and compassionate with her. She had to stay overnight and received great care and treatments to help her feel better. I would highly recommend them and will be bringing my pets here moving forward!

Very friendly, and knowledgeable, staff. I've been taking my two pups up, and our family took our dogs growing up. Never had a bad experience. Even when busy they get back to you promptly and always with a smile.
