Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Dr. Carlson has been our vet for over a decade. He has always helped us trouble shoot for the best solution for our pets, is welcoming and friendly, and very knowledgable, providing excellent routine care as well as quick scheduling in cases of greater emergency. His staff are always helpful, friendly, & attentive to safety and the comfort of our pets always making sure the lobby is clear for our entrance or exit. We especially love Kevin & Bri. Dr. Carlson has also provided excellent end of life care for 2 of our senior dogs and was incredibly patient with us as we made hard decisions. I highly recommend supporting local smaller businesses and this is one we are proud to choose. This clinic is a little slice of family for us and our 3 dogs and 2 cats.

Update (July 2024) to original review. I will not be calling this office. Hopefully I can clarify any confusion you have regarding my prior review. I stand by my original complaint. I didn’t research reviews for this office before taking Faith here in 2010. This review is meant as information knowledge to other new pet owners regarding microchip scanners used in the veterinarian’s office. We have been in this area since 1974. The business was opened and closed on and off for years. The office is only three and half blocks away. UPDATE TO OWNERS RESPONSE: You don’t have to be affiliated with the HomeAgain company to set up an account. HomeAgain did not make an error saying your office set up the account. Pet owners and veterinary offices/clinics can set up accounts. I know this office didn’t microchip Faith. This office was provided with the paperwork copy of her vaccination dates, date of birth, microchip#, health, etc. for review in 2010. Sometimes Faith saw another veterinarian office with longer office hours starting in 2013 (this office was still her primary veterinarian). The HomeAgain refrigerator magnet with her name and microchip ID# was given to me by your office (one of the prior workers, Aaron or Melody) in August 2012. I had no concerns that Faith was going to get lost. I renewed the annual membership one time. Regardless of it being years ago, I have a very good memory. I have EVERY patient visit receipt detail. The birth date you have on her patient receipts doesn’t match the birth date on the paperwork I brought you for her first initial visits. The earliest purchase of blood pressure medication and blood pressure checks was 2016 or 2017. Maybe other pet owners know their pets are scanned when they are brought to a veterinarian office, but I was a newbie and didn’t know. Your office had the opportunity to tell me that the paperwork I brought to you didn’t match the birth date when you scanned her on my first few visits. You could have said the microchip ID# didn’t matched the number on the paperwork brought to you. That would have been such a simple thing you could have told me. It was obvious that I cared for Faith regardless of her age or heart murmur. (Faith had that heart murmur in 2010). Unfortunately, I will never know the real birth date or if the microchip ID belonged to my pet. This feeling is based on the various birth dates listed on the different veterinarian office receipts. HomeAgain had on record that Faith was a male and no birth date. Again, pet owners BEWARE! BEWARE!! Note: I know this is a long review. However, I think this is very important. I know other pet lovers will understand. I am grateful for help from family reviewing all the receipts and typing this review update. Short version of the prior review in June of 2024 _______________________________________ Caution/Beware of this Veterinarian Office This is a betrayal of trust and has to do with my dog’s Microchip ID number. My experience started out great, but by 2019 declined. This was the first veterinarian I took my dog Faith to for treatments (exams, vaccinations, nail clipping, boarding, anal gland expression, etc. I had no reason to distrust this office. My caution to dog owners is to make sure you verify the microchip ID number when a dog is adopted, especially if you take over the care from an adopted dog. I got the copy of the vaccination and health records from the adoption. It was obvious from different services loss pet services that the microchip ID belonged to another dog when researched this year. Shame on Hickman Mills Animal Hospital!! Maybe that’s the norm for some veterinarian businesses. Thanks to my mom for taking the time to type this review because I am VISUALLY IMPAIRED.

Dr Carlson and his staff have been wonderful to me and my fur friends. The staff, Kevin and Kaylee are so good with animals. They’ve all been supportive and compassionate during a very hard time after losing my sweet kitty. They know me and my pets by name and are now taking care of my new kitty. I won’t go anywhere else.

They took great care of my fur baby! Glad to say he had made a full recovery.

They took great measures to keep their clients and employees safe as they came out to the car to get Mona and had me pay over the phone. It's for reasons like this that has kept me coming back for 40 years.
