How to Save Money at Barrett Station Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
The doctors at Barrett Station Veterinary Clinic have always taken such amazing care of my dogs from their early years as puppies to their final days. Collectively I have had three dogs with over 22 total years under their care, mostly with Dr. Victoria Knight, but at different times each of the doctors has provided care. You will not find a finer collective of pet care providers.

Our Rhodesian Lab mix has been a patient here for a long time. In addition to taking great care of all his ailments; they have great systems and processes to make it a good experience for me as well. Called in a script before office hours. Got a text it was ready shortly after open. In 30 seconds, I had picked up the meds, had an email receipt and card on file charged, and back out the door. Would recommend!

Very disappointed. I brought my mom’s two dogs into this clinic to see Dr. Maddin for their shots. One of our dogs had recently had to get several teeth pulled. The surgery was very costly, and my mom had opted to have the worst of his teeth pulled first, the loose ones, and then to keep an eye on the others. Dr. Maddin told her that was a great idea and would be fine, and even told her after the surgery that it seemed like the right call— they got the worst ones and would revisit the rest. But when I just brought the dogs in, Dr. Maddin told me something different. She mocked the fact that my mom had decided to only have some of them pulled, smiling like it was funny that she idk “just didn’t want him to have too many teeth pulled” lol. She was intimating that my mom’s intentions were based on vanity, and that she didn’t want to have a toothless dog. It was so unprofessional and gossipy and weird, I called her out for it right on the spot— pointing out that maybe my mom couldn’t afford the entire amount all at once, did she think that was something to be mocked? I also know that this is the same doctor that originally told my mom it was totally fine to do it that way. I guess she thought I would jump on the bandwagon and talk about my mom behind her back like we’re teenagers but she picked the wrong girl. It’s no doctor’s right to be that judgmental of patients and to talk about someone who has patronized their business for years like they are a joke. I was so offended and I will make sure my mom never brings them back there.

We have been taking our dogs here to the previous owner and now the former owner veterinarian for years, and won’t let anyone else touch our dogs anymore. We’ve always had long hair northern breeds whose coats are very sensitive.

I have needed to get my dear pets nails trimmed for a long time, I tried PetSmart but appointment didn’t work out because I had to update rabies. So I set an appointment with Barret station veterinary clinic and request that it be at their earliest availability. Today was the day for that appointment which they scheduled with me for 10:10am, I arrived 13 minutes late because I didn’t want to freak out my cat and was going the speed limit. they called me but I was driving but I couldn’t answer and live less than five minutes away. They said a who is this and the second thing they told me after greeting me is quote “you know your appointment was at 10:10am today?” and proceeded to tell me she would check and see if they could still see me or I would have to reschedule. I had forgotten that it was at 10:10 am and thought I was early for a 10:30am appointment. She walked back and said that unfortunately they could not see me because I was 13 minutes late . With an Odd appointment time and no courtesy or grace period clearly the move to a more expensive facility was all about money because they didn’t have time for me or care to give Luna Binx time to get there. Thanks for not helping me and turning Binx away because I was late. 10:10-10:23 new customers should not get in traffic or you may wind up finding a wasted trip because it’s about money>=time=no-care4you
