How to Save Money at Ark Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I brought our family Rabbit in to get checked as we has losing his balance and after paying for the exam, was told that they think they know what the problem might be, but refused to perscribe him the life saving medicine unless we paid $500 worth of lab testing to confirm the already suspected problem. Long story short, our Bunny's symptoms are getting much worse and he is dying. Although they seem to be quite polite, you can know a tree by the fruit that it brings and this Veterinary seems to be just another one of those who put money before the animals well being.

My 1 yr old cockatiel got outside and was gone for 6 days. Dr Dixon told me about a facebook page for lost pets. I posted and within 4 hr had my bird back. He had flown 13 miles away. Dr Dixon treated him and he is home safe and healthy. Soooo very very grateful. Great and friendly staff. Dr. Dixon was wonderful.

Great place, our gecko was very I'll and they helped alot. He ended up passing but ARK made the process a whole lot better. Plus NO one not even the emergency hospital could get us in. Guess who could though? That's right ARK they got us in 10 minutes within us calling. Plus the woman answering the phone was amazing. So thank you ARK

My hairless Guinea pigs got into a fight the other night and I could not get ahold of any emergency vets for a possible emergency, and the other exotic/small animal clinic that I’ve been to in the past couldn’t see me for almost another week. I called Ark based on recommendation of a client who they answered even after hours about an appointment. They were able to see my Guinea pig the same morning! I was a new patient. They communicated well with me throughout the day (he was dropped off). Price was decent for exam, treatment, and 4 rounds of medications cost under $300. Beautiful and clean facility with nice staff. Thank you Ark!

I hesitated on writing this review but I urge against bringing your reptile here. I am a medical student. Here are the reasons: 1) Vet tech miscalculated my chameleon's weight to be 10 times heavier than he is, and thus gave ceftazidime in 10 times higher dose than indicated for him, which I gave for a month. I found this out the next time he needed this med and the dosage was different. This antibiotic is nephrotoxic. No one brought this up until I asked and no one apologized. 2) 2 months later, his renal insufficiency became evident as he developed various symptoms. They recommended culturing the abscess which I did. When I called for the result a week later, the tech said it's negative, and she said it means either it was aseptic or the truck was too hot and killed all organisms... I believe the vet facility holds the responsibility to ensure an adequate transportation system. 3) Recently, I dropped off Millie just to get stitches out that was done in ER and later received a voicemail (without a call) recommending euthanasia because it would be "unfair of us to keep pushing him". I did not expect this let alone hear it over voicemail and walked out of my lectures in tears. Both when I called back and when I went to pick him up, they repeatedly asked if I was sure of not euthanizing. The night before, Millie ate a handful of crickets and walked around outside which he loves to do. Did not appear to be in pain or distress. -I've spent over $1000 here for many of the tests they recommended, but received no diagnosis. -The picture attached is Millie today. He has been recovering well and has been enjoying the outdoors and hanging with my bearded dragon. Enjoying his life. -I've had Millie for 4 years and he traveled across the country with me. He is my first pet. He may be small but is a part of my family, and I am upset and disappointed by the way he was treated.
