How to Save Money at Bridgeport Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I have used Dr. Gill for the last 30 years. We moved and decided to take our new pup somewhere else. Biggest mistake I could have ever made. Got my doberman's ears cropped elsewhere she got an infection after that vet posted her ears. I decided I was calling our old vet. Dr. Gill got me in right away not only did he post her ears, he explained very thoroughly how to do it myself. I was stressed about posting her ears. The first time I did it, my pup had it out within an hour. Dr. Gill charged me $11 to post her ears. The other vet charged me $65. I am so grateful for him. He has no idea.

I have taken my animals to Dr.Gill for as long as I can remember and he’s always been amazing. He’s taken care of my cats and dogs through the years and he is kind and compassionate always. When my pit was very sick he did all he could, including bring medication to my home and when he realized it was a blockage and something he could not handle, he referred us to a surgeon and the dog lived for many years. My cats have all been spayed, neutered and declawed by Dr Gill. I don’t understand the negative reviews he’s not going to do unnecessary tests right away if he don’t think it’s needed he’s not padding the bill I promise you that he’s the most reasonable vet I’ve ever used. Please understand as with any Dr a diagnosis isn’t always possible it can take time. Thank you Dr.Gill and team for all you do

I took my cane corso puppy here and had his ears cropped. I loved the staff so much that I choose to drive the hour to have his shots and everything else done! They are very quick at getting you an appointment. They are great at answering questions and explaining things to you. The girls that work there are very passionate and great with your fur baby!

DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMAL HERE!!!!!!! We called them already, letting them know what we thought was wrong with our cat because she was dragging both of her legs while we take her in after driving an hour and all they had to tell us was that she would be fine and that they’re giving her an anabiotic and everything like that. He never did x-rays on her. He never checked to see if she was OK. All he did was put her on the ground to see if she would walk and then outside of the room we heard him say that he was gonna give her the same anabiotic as two other dogs if I were you, I would not bring your animals here. I also used the bathroom and they literally had the cones hanging up in the bathroom, not only that but the tube of “antibiotic” had dried up blood from other animals on it. The doctor himself would start conversations about his friends rather than doing his job. if I were you, I would not go here.

I took my cat in a month ago. He has been acting lethargic, non active, not eating and drinking, fast heart beat, pulling his fur and all the vet said to do was vaccinate and deworm him. 60 dollars later and now at emergency vet costing me over 355 dollars now because Bridgeport vet didn't do bloodwoork or anything else. I'll never go back or refer anyone there ever again!!! Love the staff but not the vet
