How to Save Money at Kingdom Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We had a wonderful first-time trip to Kingdom AH. All staff were welcoming, sweet, and compassionate. Dr Langworthy was informative, patient (I had lots of questions!), and professional in every way. I’m so happy to have found such a caring, reasonably priced veterinarian’s office.

We have had many cat friends over the last 30 years, and are long time clients of Kingdom Animal Hospital. I don't write a lot of reviews, but I wanted to praise the technical skills, diagnostic abilities, and the high level of caring and comfort we received when my baby Jacques had a bowel obstruction and necrotic gut this year. Dr. Wolk 100% saved his life. She kept probing over multiple visits to determine the cause as it was not readily apparent at first. She did not give up on him and even after the surgery I know she took special care of him, as she personally checked on him. Dr. Wolk presented us our options with the risks/benefits and let us decide. In the past, I would have probably chose euthanasia, as there was no guarantee he would come through this (he ended up septic with peritonitis), but he is a young cat, so we chose the surgery. Even if he would have died, I would have known that everything was done for him. I also want to thank Dr. Brenning, who performed the surgery with such skill, and all the technicians that took care of my baby. He was there for several days receiving iv antibiotics, and so many wonderful staff took care of him. They also let us have a visit with the patient that brightened our spirits so much (and Jacques, too!). During the entire episode, I was working out of state and unable to see him. Dr. Wolk took the time to answer all my questions and was patient with my distress over the situation. Jacques has regained the weight he lost and has adapted to his new prescription diet. We are so thankful to Kingdom for giving us more time with him.

Brought my dog in for concerns she might have a bladder infection. Once inside the office, the dog looked like she needed to pee. We were going to take the dog outside, when the staff said they needed to collect the urine. The dog then peed on the floor. The staff collected the urine off the dirty FLOOR and tested that contaminated sample for infection. That sample should NEVER have been tested for infection as it was completely contaminated. When we asked to have the charge removed the vet refused. She said the floor is clean. I called the office to explain my concern about the test and charge. The vet was very arguementative. She said she always gets permission from the pet owner to perform the test. I explained that not every dog owner understands a sample collected from a floor is un-usable to rule out infection as the floor surface is contaminated. I stated pet owners count on vet staff to perform only necessary and warranted testing. It isn't the dog owners responsibility to know how valid the test would be if taken from a dirty surface. I work in healthcare and know a contaminated specimen sample should never be run and billed. It is a shame this vet can't see how morally wrong they were. They took advantage of the dog owner and refused to remove the urinalysis charge from the bill. It was Dr. B

I took my cat to get him groomed. Stacy did an excellent job! I just wanted his hair shaved. I didn't get him a lion cut or anything like that but she can do those as well.

I love all of the vets and staff there, but I wanted to leave a review for my most recent experience with Dr. Langworthy and her assistant, Sarah. They were so patient and kind to my spicy kitty. They took their time with her and it meant a lot to me! The building has also recently had some work done and looks great!!! Thanks for taking care of my babies.
