How to Save Money at Heaven At Home Pet Hospice
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

It was not feasible for me to have my 16 year old boy; Zeppelin laid to rest at my home up North. So they explained the option and process of me bringing him there. It's very warm and welcoming. Calm and serene atmosphere. I brought Zeppys bed and blankets for him to get settled. Though it was the hardest thing i've ever had to do, They were very kind, empathetic, compassionate, patient and understanding. I highly recommend Dr. Brush and her team.

It was time to say goodbye to our dear Stella last week. Our normal vet was 8-days out and that couldn’t work, so we arranged for Heaven at Home to help. Dr. Kim came out the same day, and could not have been better. She was knowledgable, kind, understanding… just absolutely great. Each step of the process was compassionately explained and gently carried out. I was able to hold Stella in my arms as she went over the Rainbow Bridge for a lovely reunion with dear old friends on the other side.

I cannot say enough good things about this company. When we realized the challenge we were going to have of saying goodbye to our poor old friend on Christmas eve we were not only fearful of having to take him in the car to a cold, sterile vet's office where his last moments would be filled with pain and fear we were also afraid of being price gouged for needing this service on a holiday. Many offices I contacted were closed or didn't do house visits (a house visit was what we really hoped to get but weren't sure we would due to it being Christmas eve), and a lot of the companies i visited had very high prices! Nobody wants to worry about money in this situation, especially dead in the middle of a very expensive holiday. Heaven at Home came to our rescue like a super hero flying in to save the day! They made sure that we got an open time slot the same day, where they showed up and very gently and humanely helped us say goodbye to our good boy. As far as the price goes, there is a cost involved, probably more than if you took your pet someplace else, but it is a fair cost, and they did not charge us some crazy added charge for coming on a holiday. They answered all of our questions i timely manner, put us at ease, and made an extremely difficult day as good as it coukd possibly be. I was having doubts about if I was making the right decision, wondering if maybe he would get better. The vet showed up early and gave our boy an exam and put my mind and heart at ease the this decision I would have to live with was the right one! I hope we won't need Heaven at Home's services for many more years, but when we do, there will be no doubt about who I contact. When you have to make that hard decision, and want saying goodbye to be as personal, gentle, and easy as possible, do yourself a favor and call these guys. Bill

I’m so thankful for Heaven at Home. Our dog suddenly got sick and was diagnosed with a large tumor on her spleen. To be able to let her pass peacefully in our own home surrounded by those that loved her meant the world to us. Dr Tillman is so wonderful and I can’t be more thankful and grateful for her guidance and kindness through one of the most painful times in my life. The staff were all so kind on the phone and at the office.
