How to Save Money at Dorr Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

In 2022 I moved back to the US with my rescue dog Farah and was looking for a new vet. At that time, it was not easy to find one but Dorr Veterinary Clinic did everything they could to get her in as soon as possible. I was instantly impressed with the facility and the care she received on day one. I was lucky not only to find a caring and kind veterinarian staff but Farah has also found her 2nd home at doggie daycare. Farah is nervous and anxious in new surroundings and every caregiver at DVC has always been so patient and understanding of her needs. Sarah and all the women at daycare take such good care of her and Farah loves going to see them! It is especially nice to have all services in one place, a very rare find around here and essential for Farah as it takes her so long to feel comfortable. We use DVC for their amazing veterinary care, boarding, grooming and of course her favorite, daycare. She receives daycare and grooming report cards and all staff know her and are very communicative and knowledgeable. We love it there and would give 10 stars if we could!

First thing that rubbed me wrong was when they took my puppy to a separate room, without us, to administer her vaccines. Why couldn’t they do it right in front of me? What’s the mystery about? So, then the veterinarian starts talking to me about different food options. I told her that I cook my dogs food from scratch with proven healthy recipes. She proceeded to tell me that was a bad idea and that I should go with Purina, Science Diet, or Royal Canine. All of which contain grains and corn. I knew right away that they weren’t in it for the actual health of the dogs. Now, as I’m checking out I said, how much is a dose of Simparica Trio? She says ,”Roxy actually gets one free dose from us.” I had my wallet out and was willing to pay but she insisted that it was FREE. Long story short, now that I’m switching vets, they want to try and charge me for the dose of Simparica Trio that they said was FREE! These people are petty and incompetent when it comes to doing their jobs. I would Not recommend them to my worst enemy!

I had a wonderful experience at Dorr Vet! I brought in my senior cat, and the staff was not only incredibly friendly, but also flexible with scheduling and attentive throughout the entire visit. Dr. Molly was informative and took the time to explain several treatment options for the issues my cat is currently facing. The facility itself is clean, spacious, and welcoming. I’ll definitely be bringing all of my pets here from now on!

Use Dorr Vet for all their services. Our pups love to be there for boarding and we don’t have to worry about them at all while we are gone. Dr Kayce is very caring and the staff is kind and knowledgeable. We also use the grooming service and love them too!

Our dog got hit by a delivery truck and was in bad shape. Once we got him home from the emergency vet hospital, we were not able to adequately take care of him. The folks here were incredibly kind and accommodating. They were able to keep him for the weekend and got him up and mobile again. We cannot adequately express how grateful we are to this team for helping in his recovery. We also use this place for boarding and every experience has been outstanding.
