How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Maine Coast Veterinary Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I can't thank the amazing team at MCVH enough! My sweet girl had a run in with the business end of a porcupine and I called to see if they would be willing and able to help us. Despite their full schedule and knowing they would have to stay after hours, there was no hesitation. From the moment I called to the moment I left with my girl (no longer looking like a pin cushion), I was met with nothing but smiling faces and treated with kindness from everyone. At times it feels impossible to find a place that truly cares but this place is one of those rare finds. Cheers to MCVH! Thanks for being there for us!

Medical care is alright when you can get it, though its hard to get in without waiting 3-4 months for an appointment, even for established pets. Customer service in reception is depending on who you deal with. Did not care at all for how the vet handled my elderly dog in his final months. We were fortunate to be able to switch him to Schoodic Animal Hospital where they handled his final months beautifully. Very grateful to have made the switch with him so he could pass peacefully.

Dr. Meaghan took my cats in on short notice-which was greatly appreciated. She always shows a love for the animals and gives me a better understanding on what is going on with my cat's health. She's great-and the front desk ladies are equally as great!

Our dog, Joseph, loves Maine Coast Veterinary. His first experience with them was when he had an encounter with a porcupine. We rushed him right in, they had to put him out to remove all the quills from his mouth, and he didn’t miss a meal. He recently was diagnosed with diabetes. He has received the best possible care and we have been given state of the art information and advice.
