How to Save Money at Alexander Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Long (and long overdue) five star review. My cat Fritz 🐈 had a giant lump in his throat. I started going to another vet to drain the mass and was given advice that Fritz should be put down. As Fritz was a dear family member I was loathe to do that. So we kept going back about once a month to drain the cyst(?). After about 4 weeks the lump would come back and make breathing, eating and sleeping hard for poor Fritz. I tried another vet hoping for better news. That vet charged me double for the draining and also told me to put the cat down. My son was going through a difficult time and Fritz is really about the best friend he has, so desperately I went to see Alexander Animal Hospital. I was told that Dr. Alexander was a fabulous surgeon and to come back and see if he could perform some sort of magic on Fritz. I did so, knowing that Fritz was down to his last shot. Dr. Alexander came in like a whirlwind, the hair, the flowing robes, his whole aura changed my outlook on Fritz' impending death. He was a breath of fresh air! He told us that potentially Fritz could be saved and to bring him back just 3 days later. He would take lunch off Monday and perform the surgery. It was my decision to forego the thousands of dollars it would cost on CAT scans and imaging. Fritz was near death anyway and I reasoned that if surgery didn't work he was going to have to be put down anyway. Well, I'm happy to say that months later Fritz is doing wonderfully. Dr. Alexander is a lifesaver. No recurrence of the lump, and he is happy and healthy, back to his old frisky self. He probably does have hyperthyroidism as he's eating and drinking and peeing for an animal three times his weight, but the good Dr. cautioned that was a strong possibility. We need to get that looked at. For now the family and Fritz are enjoying this new lease on life. Dr. Alexander performed the surgery expertly, and saved our dear friend's life. I couldn't recommend this practice any higher. The warm staff and excellent treatment...I wish I could give 10 stars! Tears are welling up as I write this. Thank you truly Dr. Alexander and staff, you have a client for life!

I have recently switched over to Alexander Animal Hospital a year ago and they have been great! Dr Alexander and Dr Mason are amazing! I take my cat and dog to them and they both take their time examining my animals and answer all my questions. My cat recently had a dental procedure and had some reactions to a medication he received, but Dr Alexander has been very easy to reach and has been doing everything he can to make sure my cat is okay. My animals are my family and it’s relieving to find a place I can trust with them. I highly recommend Alexander Hospital and I’m very glad I made the switch to them!

This is the best Veterinary Hospital we’ve ever used. If I could give them a million stars I’d would. Dr. Mason and Dr. Alexander along with their staff are truly amazing! They took excellent care of our yellow lab “Apollo” for over a year. He was 14 years old, had a lot of health issues. Both Vets gave us all that extra time with him. So very grateful 🥲 My husband called Dr. Mason the other night and he stayed after hours with his wonderful staff cuz we knew it was”Apollos” time. These people are so very special. We will always remember them with love and gratitude! If you don’t change your Veterinarian services to them, I feel sorry for your pet and you as the pet owner! Thank you 🙏🏼 Dr. Mason for being you ♥️

Just wanted to share our experience at the vet's office. Dr. Mason was so great with Sonya, taking the time to answer all our questions. The whole team, from the front desk to the treatment room, was really nice. We highly recommend this clinic if you need a good veterinarian.
