How to Save Money at BluePearl Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My puppy Cooper seven month old has been experiencing scratching and itching since I got him at eight weeks old. He is a blue heeler. The doctor was so friendly and the staff so knowledgeable and helpful. I had to use the restroom and one was willing to hold my puppy, I highly recommend blue pearl It was well worth the hour and 45 minute drive. Lorie and Cooper.

We brought 12-year-old Hero in to Blue Pearl, not knowing anything about them except that a knowledgable friend recommended them. We waited a long time in the parking lot, only because another dog was in serious trouble and they had everyone helping. We were OK with that. Dr. Thompson came out and assessed Hero in the back of our car. They soon bought a gurney out to take him. We shortly came to understand that we couldn’t save our boy from metastasized cancer. The technicians were incredibly kind and gentle with him. They helped get him back in the car and we brought him home. No bullshit about anything,. She told us exactly what we needed to know to help our dear companion. Two days later, we euthanized him at home and are in a daze. Obviously. But we are so grateful that we went there and got the truth, and that he was handled with compassion, When you are suddenly faced with such terrible news, it’s important to be able to trust the people who have your dog’s life in their hands. Thankfully, we have that comfort, as we grieve.

They basically killed my dear dog at this BluePearl Hospital in Rockville MD. First by administration of a too large dose of a chemotherapy drug after misreading his blood test’s results, then by infecting him with a deadly antibiotic-resistant bacteria during one of the injections. And I still owe them ~ $10K out of about $15K this money-thirsty hospital charged me for several chemotherapy treatments. It all started after I gave them a not so positive feedback. They used to sent me a request for a feedback after each appointment and at some point I decided to speak out my mind. These requests stopped abruptly after that and my dog’s health quickly deteriorated. He ended up dying in ER of another hospital (BluePearl ER does not provide extensive care and is closed at 2 am) from a severe bacterial sepsis. If you are considering bringing your dear pet to this BluePearl hospital, especially to the oncology department, my honest advice would be to reconsider this decision. Take him/her somewhere else. I can’t bring my beloved sweetheart back, but your pet’s life is still in your hands.

The care my dog has received at Blue Pearl has been 10/10. I have seen oncology, internal med, and surgery. My 10.5 year old boxer has been seeing this team for the last 2.5 years. Everyone has been fabulous to work with and their continued care is the reason she is in such great shape.

I was very pleased with the care I received from Blue Pearl. My primary vet suspected my cat had a hernia after doing a X-ray which would require surgery, and was able to set up a surgery consultation for me the next day at Blue Pearl. Upon arriving, I was taken back immediately and the nurse was very kind in explaining everything that would be done. They were also very clear in the costs of things, letting me know how much everything would be. They recommended an ultrasound to get a better look at her insides. I had to leave her there for a few hours but was confident she was being well taken care of. Multiple nurses commented on how sweet my cat was, which made me feel like she was in great hands. I felt that Dr. SJ was very kind and compassionate and wanted to rule everything out before recommending surgery. My cat did not end up needing surgery, and her issue was a part of an underlying connective tissue disorder she has. We discussed the next steps and I felt very confident I their decision. Dr. SJ was incredibly thorough and very helpful with his recommendations. I really felt that he had my cats best interest in mind, and didn’t want to do anything medically unnecessary. The only negative I have was the cost, but it’s the prices we pay for making sure our pets get the best care.
