How to Save Money at Lynn Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The staff was friendly and efficient. I took one of my cats to get a nail trim for the first time and they treated him like they have known him for years. He was completely calm which I did not expect. It was a wonderful experience since I am a new pet owner. Thanks again Grace

Lynn animal hospital did an amazing job of diagnosing my cat. They were able to schedule her for surgery within a week. My cat is older so the surgery really effected her I was really worried. She wouldn’t eat, drink or move. I was able to bring my cat in the next morning. They took care of my cat while I was at work. Gave her medicine and hydrated her. She is much better now! Amazing job! The staff and Docs are great!

We’ve been going to Lynn for 15yrs, since our Sr. Dog-Yoshi was a pup, and our experience has always been far beyond pleasant. The staff at Lynn always show that they truly care for our fur baby and treat him w the love and care that he always needs. It’s a 45 min drive for us to get there but there is nowhere else we rather bring him to.

I’be been a client of Lynn Animal Hospital for 2 years. I urge you to NOT use them as your veterinarian for the sake and well-being of your animals. I saw the difference from before to after the renovations and new management. I also saw the change in Dr Carman’s quality of services. He used to lead his practice, and his clients felt at home. Now his clients are mistreated, ignored, bullied by unqualified client service staff (the vets words not mine) Dr. Stancliff whom I’ve never met in 2 years, and finally called to see why I’m upset, solely focused on justifying a malpractice with unethical excuses. She literally couldn’t see the problem in her undermining statement “you should have read on Facebook, that there is a vet shortage”. Meanwhile my 12 year old rescue dog was growing a mass on her abdomen, that has gone undetected by this entire practice. Even after an office visit, they didn’t bother to look carefully at her blood work, or offered an X-ray. All they cared about is doing overpriced dental cleanings. They easily charged me $1,500+ for my terrier, and another $1,500+ for my boxer. Meanwhile while laying on their table my boxer had unknown fluids and a mass pushing on her organs all under their “health care services”. Since the remodel, it’s been impossible for me (see my name) to schedule a reasonably dated appointment with the receptionists. Even worse an urgent/emergency visit. One of my dogs under their care has cushings diagnosed by them. I couldn’t even get his lifelong prescriptions filled without hassle. Dr. Stancliff justified it as, “we have bad clients who don’t know how to care for their pets, so our regulation is to assume everyone doesn’t”. So I moved my prescription to Costco, lower price, and easy text-based refills, no hassle. Dr Carman took off for a week, didn’t bother to check on clients who may have been trying to get urgent appointments with him. Per Dr. Stancliff he’s been “in and out for management meetings”, implying he’s been flaking. Not the first time I’ve heard the vets at Lynn throw eachother under the bus. Meanwhile many older clients are silently fleeing this practice, without warning others. I can’t do that. I have personal ethics unlike these vets who call themselves “professionals”. Cause the health of biological beings are at stake. So my advice as a client is don’t put your loved ones at risk. This practice has become a mess. In my case they entered MAL-PRACTICE realm and I have proof. Saying “I’m sorry you feel that way”, is NOT an apology, and it DOES NOT FIX, the pain and damage they caused my dog. And the emotional stress I am now feeling. My dog is not doing well, and I’m left without a neighborhood veterinarian to provide her medical care and counsel. Lynn Animal hospital on the other hand has $4,000+ of my money for 2.5 days of nonsensical services. Don’t put yourself thru this hell. Don’t do this to your loved ones.

Dr Carman & staff we’re great when I brought my dog in due to a small mass; examined him carefully & explained pros & cons of treatment options. Treated my dog well with caring.
