How to Save Money at PetVet Vaccination Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

First of all,I downloaded app for care to be provided and was sure I was signed up. I got to store,to find a multitude of animals. I found out,I was not signed up and of course my phone would not scan the barcode to sign up. After that it was time for the pets to start going in. No one was starting, nothing was moving. We waited, with four people ahead of us, a hour and a half to get our two dogs in. I was angry over the disorganized affair. I'd rather pay the extra to go to a regular veterinarian.. the whole process was awful. I also didn't think the cost was reduced either. Two dogs, with a nasal kennel cough and a Lyme shot was close to 200$. No one explained anything while in with the vet. I was very disappointed and upset over the entire process. I even forgot to give the code for my first time visit there . If you can avoid this, take your animals elsewhere.

Long wait because I didn't know to sign in online. The vet and staff were professional and friendly. They got the line moving as quickly as possible. Happy pets and customers.

Petvet in Hagerstown has always taken care of our dogs since we started coming in 2021. We have 3 dogs that we take regularly for vaccines and one of them has severe allergies. They have taken awesome care and attention to all of my dogs but especially the one with allergies. We couldn't afford a regular vet and our dog was suffering. They helped us work through the possible causes and eventually we found a treatment plan that has our dog 100% healthy again! All of this without having to spend thousands. They also remember us and our dogs, they provide a personable experience and really truly care about our babies. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Pic added of our dog with severe allergies- she went from balding with pain and open wounds to how she looks now- healthy and happy!!

The team did really well with my fur baby franklin! I had adopted him that same day and he need flea treatment and ear drops. They were able to explain to me the medication he needed, which was really helpful. I highly recommended this location and will be back if needed. Franklin says thanks for helping him feel better :)

I had taken my golden retriever to his normal full-service vet for the better part of a year to treat an ongoing skin infection and skin issue. They had placed him on an allergy injection, multiple rounds of antibiotics and antifungals and steroids. It never got better for long it always reoccurred. I decided to get another opinion, and for the first time they brought up checking his thyroid to see if that was the underlying cause. One simple blood test saved my dogs life. Dr. Little saved my dogs life. I was so broken down and thought that I was going to have to let my pup go because we couldn’t get ahead and his quality of life was suffering immensely . I cannot tell you how grateful I am to Ashley and Dr. Little. It is because of them and only them that I have my puppy here today. My five year old golden is like a brand new dog again he has lost 30 pounds and every one of his skin issues is gone. The time and attention that they take, the care that they give is amazing. I truly cannot recommend them enough. They are a dream team for veterinary care.
