How to Save Money at Mid-Atlantic Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Thank you to the Staff of this clinic! We are beyond grateful for their compassion. We visited today as new clients & brought our 16 y/o Chihuahua, Charlie for an examination. Charlie had multiple medical issues & today he succumbed to them. The doctor showed us the exams they performed & our goal was to never have Charlie suffer. With kindness in their eyes & actions, they helped us ease Charlie in his final moments. They were so kind allowing us time with him at every point. No Fur-family wants to experience this, but we are prone to loving & losing our best friends. We are grateful for your care to our Fur-family.

Heather did a wonderful job grooming Simba with a lion haircut. He looks so cute!! And if he could talk, I bet he'd tell me it feels really good. His hair was really long. He looks like his brother, Bear now. Heather did a great job with Bear first. I am so glad I found your grooming services for my kitties. I will be back!! Thank everyone at your office for me.

If i could give this place a zero star rating I would! I don’t know how they have a 4.7 rating to be honest. Anyways, I already knew they were money hungry with what they charge and try to tack onto my bill every time i go there. But this time they refused to see my dog because I wouldn’t let them give him another rabies shot after he just had one only a month ago that is good for 3 years. They didn’t consider his 2025 rabies tag good enough because it didn’t include his name. They said that they needed to see the paper work too. It doesn’t matter to them that my dog is actively suffering with ear pain and needs treated, they only seem to care about how much more money they can get in their pockets. And it can’t be safe to give him a shot that he isn’t due to get again for 3 years. It’s unbelievable how people can be this way. They don’t care one bit about animals here and it shows every time I’ve been there. Only thing they care about is how much is going in their pockets. Steer clear of this place of you love your animals, want to keep them safe and don’t want to go broke trying to keep them healthy. Also, there are quite a few women in there who aren’t very friendly either from my experience.

Great experience! I have never been happier with service and grooming. The communication with staff was clear and they were very informative. This was my first time using and will not be my last. The office was clean, staff pleasant, and I was greeted by a happy wonderful smelling dog. After a few hours there you couldn’t tell our little diva anything. She left smiling. Thanks again

Very compassionate and kind staff! I unexpectedly had to help my Bonnie Girl over the rainbow bridge. They were very upfront about pricing, they let you see everything in the computer so you understand what’s going on with your fur baby/finances. They were so sweet to us, I’ll never forget it- it truly made the whole experience a bit easier -as it was a solo trip. They handled my girl with so much love and care, I’ll always be grateful for their kindness. I’ve returned as a client and the experience was quick and tech savvy. My senior cat loved them- very calm and collected, he didn’t even try to swat. I highly recommend this clinic, your pets will be in loving and experienced hands!
