How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Summit Animal Hospital
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

My little pal had a medical emergency out of the blue. Dr. Neuman and staff were able to see her right away and gently and kindly helped us navigate through the emergency and an extremely difficult decision. It's been a week, and I am still so sad Piper is no longer here, but I am forever grateful for the amazing employees at Summit who gave my friend comfort when she needed it.

Just wanted to give a shout-out to Dr. Newman and all the staff at Summit Animal Hospital. Dr. Newman always amazes me with the care she has for my pets. It's hard to find a doctor who sees you as more than a patient. Who remembers you, takes your concerns seriously, and takes your whole life into account with no judgement. Dr. Newman is kind, gentle, and understanding. I have a very anxious half pit who Dr. Newman is phenomenal with. I also have a cat who hates all people and Dr. Newman handles her in a way that makes her at ease. Vets are expensive, I think Dr. Newman is reasonable and well worth the price.

While certainly knowledgeable, somewhat lacking in the customer service department. Worse, they are inflexible with prescriptions, requiring they be snail mailed to alternative suppliers of monthly preventative maintenance meds - which are significantly less expensive than the vet's. I also very much did not appreciate them running unnecessary tests without asking and then, of course charging the associated high fees. The monthly flea, tick, and heartworm meds are expensive enough but if you spend the money and diligently use them, it is insulting, expensive, and unnecessary to insist on a blood test. I didn't appreciate the implication that the vet didn't believe or trust our conscientious care of our doggo. Having been a vet tech for years, I know how to check for worms and to give meds. I also am well aware of the lifecycle of heartworms and would never jeopardize the health of my dog. Additionally, it took repeated efforts to get our pups records to an out of town doggie daycare so he could accompany us on a long trip. To this day, the New Hampshire daycare we used does a better job notifying us of our dogs recommended maintenance needs!

We’ve been seeing Dr. Neuman for years. She’s seen us through regular pet exams, x-rays, surgeries, and pet loss. I’m not sure how their prices compare with other vets (I pretty much hand over my credit card when I go in) but she and the staff and kind and compassionate pet people and that’s what really counts for me.

We have had our dog and cat as patients at Summit Vet for a few years now and Dr. Neuman is always, always professional, knowledgeable, compassionate and thorough. She is there for the pets first and we are very grateful - she clearly loves all animals and has never steered us wrong. The staff is consistent and also top notch. I highly recommend...thanks for your tender care most recently of our darling three-legged Brindle.
