How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Thrive Pet Healthcare Medford
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

This place was absolutely AMAZING !!! The people that work there, the atmosphere. EVERYTHING was perfect. I’m a single dad with a 16 yr. old daughter and it’s been a constant struggle to keep our heads above water. But this place was so understanding of our situation I almost had to slap myself to make sure this was real. Personal was great !!! Veterinarian was great !!! I wouldn’t take my dog any other place from now on. I’m so glad I found this place and it was rite under my nose. Go figure.

Dr. Howard was attentive, knowledgeable and compassionate with my cat (and his owner!). Thank you. Next cats - Mimi and Jack 2.0 aka Little Boywere equally treated!

We were extremely long-time patient/s (dogs) of Looby Veterinary Group (which was a fantastic practice with caring staff!). We have now had several negative experiences with new staff since Thrive took over and our veterinarian left. I will no longer use this location or Thrive Pet Healthcare.

If I could give them no stars I would but I can’t. We were loyal customers for years when this clinic was still Lobby Veterinary Group back when it was a warm, positive, and caring environment. But since becoming Thrive, it has completely changed into a negative, unpleasant place that I would never trust with an animal again. My boy Ice was my entire world. In 2022, he was diagnosed with sarcoma, and in the early months of 2024 with renal failure. From that point forward, I went to them countless times, desperately seeking honesty and guidance. I asked them repeatedly, as veterinary professionals, for even a rough estimate of how much time he might have left not because I wanted to give up on him, but because I wanted to prepare and make his last days the best they could be. Every single time, they dodged the question, stumbled over their words, and refused to tell me the truth. Then came August 14th, 2024. They recommended urine tests, bloodwork, and an ultrasound. That morning, Ice was himself wagging his tail, alert, loving, and moving normally. When I picked him up later that day, it was like a completely different dog. He wouldn’t look at me, didn’t want to be near me, and his whole personality had changed in a matter of hours. His movements were different, slower, and there was an emptiness in his eyes that broke my heart. Three days later, my Ice was gone. I can’t put into words the devastation of watching my dog decline so rapidly after a visit they insisted was “necessary” and “routine.” Looking back, I feel they took full advantage of my love for him and my family’s trust. Instead of giving us truthful, compassionate guidance, they pushed more procedures and more bills making us believe these tests would “help us figure things out.” We were never told exactly how bad his blood levels were or given clear updates on his condition. They gave us false hope instead of the honesty we deserved. I feel misled. I feel betrayed. And I feel sick knowing that while I believed they were helping him, they may have only been helping themselves. This was not just poor communication it was a complete lack of transparency, compassion, and respect for my dog’s dignity. Almost a year later, it still hasn’t sat right with me. The guilt, the unanswered questions, and the way they treated us will never leave me. I lost my boy, and I can’t go back and change what happened but I can warn other pet owners. If you truly love your animal, please think twice before bringing them here. This is not the same place it once was when it was Lobby Veterinary Group. Thrive Medford cared more about money than about my Ice, and I will never step foot in that clinic again.

I’ve been going to Doctor Looby now Thrive for 30 years. This was my first visit not having Doctor Maui as my vet and I was worried. When I walked in I was put at ease with a sweet welcome board up with my dog’s name and all the pets names coming in that day - such a great touch! Jonathan the vet tech could not have been kinder and Doctor Howard was great!! My pup usually has a hard time at the vet but he warmed up quickly thanks to Doctor Howard. I would definitely recommend!
