How to Save Money at VCA Everett Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

VCA EVERETT was a cat life saver and such a relief to work with! Our cat stayed outside for a little too long, so someone brought him over to VCA EVERETT to identify and take care of him. VCA did an excellent job contacting us and taking care of our little one, which was a huge relief after our cat was gone for 12 hours! Thank you so much to VCA EVERETT and animal microchips, made it so we could get our furry friend back!!

Dr. Shannon Lightbody has always been incredibly patient with both my cat and me. As a new pet owner, I often found myself anxious about my cat's health, leading to frequent visits. Dr. Lightbody always thoroughly answered the plethora of questions I had and advised me on which behaviors to monitor before scheduling a vet visit. Having recently moved to another state, I regret not having the opportunity to express my gratitude in person. Thank you, Dr. Lightbody, for taking such excellent care of Rooney and me. I feel so lucky we had you as our vet!

The worst veterinary clinic in existence, part 2. Two days ago, I called to request a refill of my dog's daily medication. (I only called this clinic again because it's the closest to my house). And since it was just medication, I didn't think it would be a problem. My dog has chronic joint pain and needs daily medication. The next day, the manager called me, saying I should seek another hospital since I had made some negative reviews about the clinic. I didn't lie, I just told the truth - that Charlotte almost lost her sight due to a wrong diagnosis, and they didn't start treatment for my dog's pneumonia caused by aspiration, diagnosed as megaesophagus. My dog is now going to a hospital I trust for exams. I only called for medication because the clinic is nearby. And for the second time, they didn't call me back to let me know the medication was ready for pickup. But rest assured, I will never go back there again, not even for medication. I found the manager's attitude to be the worst possible, instead of trying to resolve the issue, they told me to go to another hospital. So, my advice to anyone who wants to share their experience here is, don't bother, because you'll be told not to come back to the clinic. I forgot to mention another episode where they refused to spay my dog because she was 8 years old at the time. Thank God I found a reliable and capable clinic that spayed her, and that's been two years ago. May God bless the patients of this clinic, may they have more luck than I did. I do not recommend this clinic to anyone.

Highly recommend! Been bringing my pup here for years, it’s great to see it continue to improve. The facility is clean and never smells. Most importantly, the Staff & Vet are always friendly and attentive to caring for my dog.

I have been bringing my Pomeranians to VCA Chelsea Street Everett, Ma. for over ten years. The doctors and staff are very nice and helpful. I especially like they have plenty of staffing and doctors available as other vets have not. They have also extended their hours that they are open which makes it so much better and convenient. They have always been there for me and my pups when have needed them.
