How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Boston Veterinary Clinic
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Getting to Know Your Veterinarian

Experience
Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.
Emergency Care Procedures
It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.
Communication Preferences
Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.
Breed Specific Health Considerations
Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.
Facility Tour

Pleasurable visit of Boston Veterinary Clinic with Dr. Maher. Also having Vittor Augusto was very comfortable because he could explain in detail everything going on with my dog in my own language (Portuguese). I wish all clinics have this experience as I had today. He make us feel welcomed, this makes such a big difference because our pets is like our children, we want to do everything for them and that’s what we had from his presence. Besides that speaking with a person that communicates in our native tongue makes us feel more connected, what a wonderful feeling makes us feel like we’re back home. We look forward to return again. Thank you to the whole staff and once again another thank you towards Vittor who made a big difference to us.

We had a great experience at Boston Vet Clinic Seaport! Our dog can be pretty anxious at the vet and the techs as well as Dr Danny made him feel very comfortable (offering treats, letting him come to them. Etc). Additionally, the facilities are really nice/clean and our little guy loved that he could post up and look out the window! Also, loved that the doctors come to the room as opposed to taking the dogs out. Overall, it was a positive experience for my dog (and me)!

For a regular check up not worth it. Outrageously expensive. Do your research beforehand. Vaccine prices are double what other vets in the area charge. I made the mistake of proximity for choosing a vet. Absolutely not worth it. A wellness exam for 2 cats was $1300. My bad for not calling around for pricing. Do yourself a favor and ask cost in advance. Lesson learned!

I have only positive things to say about BVC and this location specifically. I have been a BVC client for 7 years and have been going to the Seaport for at least half that time, if not more. Yes, there are perhaps cheaper vets - to address the comment about Seaport prices - but not significantly so (and I have paid more at some others too). You also get what you pay for, as we all know. At BVC, my dog gets top of the line care and I appreciate not having to worry that there is staff monitoring her vitals during surgeries and procedures, that I am not getting correct information, that we are ignoring possibilities or possible tests. Dr. Amy is our usual doctor and she is not just nice and friendly, but also very knowledgeable and competent. She is similarly patient and caring, and responds to my many questions via email and in person no matter how many I throw at her or how dumb they are. My dog has had many one-off issues, but she also has many ongoing issues and it really helps that Dr. Amy treats my dog like an individual and not just "another patient." We have also had appointments with Dr. Jess and Dr. Danielle at this location, and they have also been knowledgeable and caring. In fact, the whole support staff treats my dog so well that she is at times even excited to be there. I have outlasted many front desk staff and technicians (and even vets), but the care and service we have gotten has been consistently great. I also love that I get emailed test results and documents directly, in addition to the explanatory emails I get from the doctor. Every referral we have gotten has led to us receiving more fantastic care elsewhere (for example, from the surgeon at BluePearl who conducted two surgeries on my dog now). Processes are very streamlined and everything is very organized, including checkout and the automatically emailed receipts. While I wish they would email prescriptions to other pharmacies aside from their own affiliated one, that is a rather minor gripe (they provide printed prescriptions you can pickup and mail into Chewy, if needed). For most products, the prices on their pharmacy website is comparable anyway. I also now use their $60 a month pet plan, which covers certain basic costs associated with some visits. Overall, highly recommend.

Brought my 3.5 month old kitten to his 2 week since adoption checkup! They were very accommodating with scheduling and it was super easy to send over his paperwork pre appointment. He felt like a star! Everyone was extremely friendly and came to say hi to him. The cat and dog rooms are on separate sides of the office which I think is great. My kitten came from an all cat shelter, so he doesn’t know dogs, so I don’t know how he would react. They gave him lots of treats and made him comfortable. He was so comfortable he didn’t even flinch for his shot! It’s like he didn’t even know it was there. The office space is bright, clean, and very new looking. I will definitely be bringing my Remy back for years to come!
