How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Sleepy Dog Veterinary

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Getting to Know Your Veterinarian

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.

Breed Specific Health Considerations

Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.

My dog Blue had his first appointment with Dr. Innis today and it was absolutely wonderful. He’s only 5 and already has osteoarthritis due to a congenital health issue. I wanted to find a place that would help support him and provide treatments to keep him comfortable in the most non-invasive way possible. I was blown away by the amount of care the team at Sleepy Dog showed Blue. He’s normally so stressed at vet visits but he was so much calmer here 💙. I can really tell they love animals and care about their overall wellbeing. Thank you so much Sleepy Dog Team for seeing Blue today! I’m so grateful!

Both Jack and Trent have been patients at Sleepy Dog. Everyone we have seen there (Dr Beth, Dr Jenny, Sam, Meghan, and Chris) have been wonderful, attentive, and caring. Jack has benefitted from acupuncture, chiropractic, and massage and Dr Beth helped us with a referral for treament that Sleepy Dog could not provide. Trent has just started treatment and after a single acupuncture session is feeling very much on top of the world. I cannot say enough good things about Sleepy Dog Veterinary. They are awesome!

Dr. Innis, nurse Sam and Meghan rock! This is my 12 year old diabetic pug Bubba relaxing during his acupuncture last Monday. They are all so kind and gentle. ♥️

I wish I could leave more than 5 stars. This team is amazing across the board. While for some the initial price may be high, it's also more time, personalized attention, and authentic care than I have received from any other vet I have worked with. They are dedicated to centering the patient experience - where the patient is the animal! - and the client care is fantastic. I regularly get thoughtful check in emails, have collaborative and thoughtful conversations about next steps, and entirely trust that this team has my pets' best interest at heart. Even my vet-averse dog, who has had some incredible trauma at pervious clinics, starts pawing at the door and wagging her tail when we arrive. I am so grateful to have found Sleepy Dog.
