How to Save on Veterinary Costs at MidCity Veterinary Hospital
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

We found Dr Hess at the end of a long road. She and her team provided excellent care for our beloved pet, supported our fight and gently guided our family through crossing the rainbow line. Thank you, Dr Hess.

I'm very disatisfied with this clinic and may have to look for another clinic if it doesn't get better, but I will give them a chance a little longer. They are extremely expensive and I didn't like Dr. Hess' attitude at all. She didn't blink at giving me a nearly $400.00 bill and seemed impatient when I was taken aback by the high cost. Dr. Hess was pleasant and nice but I never felt she was connecting to my dog in any way. It seemed like Dr. Hess was just going through the motions and she also blew off all of my questions. She did not even hardly talk to me. It seemed she was grinning and baring it all or me or my dog or both of us. I felt that she talked down to me. It seemed she couldn't get out fast enough. I talked to three neighbors and they told me they also don't like Dr. Hess' attitude and also found Mid-City vet clinic extremely expensive, so they go to Small Animal clinic and the other neighbor goes to a clinic on Washington Ave. My long-time vet retired so that's why I went to Mid-city clinic. This is about my 3rd appt. And today, when I first entered the clinic, the woman at the desk told me I can only see the tech and not the vet but I complained and told her excuse me but when I make a vet appt I expect to see the vet. Last time they kept me waiting over an hour and were very unresponsive and impatient when I complained about the wait. All kinds of personnel were behind the door but no one ever came to me to say sorry the wait is so long. Also, at that last appt. before this one, another woman vet was no longer there with the clinic so I saw a young vet, Dr. Charlot - I don't know if I am spelling his name correctly and I can't leave the review to look. At first I complained bitterly to Dr. Charlot about the wait and he was defensive about the hour wait but then things got good and I liked him alot, even though he was such a young vet, he seemed very good. He seemed to genuinely like my dog Olinda and I felt he really communicated with me. He tuned into Olinda very well. But he wasn't there today so I had Dr. Haas. The nice gentleman at the desk - sorry I can't remember his name - was genuinely respectful of me and thanked me sincerely. I got the sense he appreciated that I had a nearly $400 bill and he could relate to it and appreciated it. Dr. Hess didn't seem to at all. Yeah, the location is very good but I'm just not happy with this clinic overall. And they only give single heart worm pills at nearly $40 a pop! You can only get a full pack on-line. They make things hard for you. I don't feel at all like my business is valued. To end on a positive note, some of the handlers are sweet and you can really see they love their job and love the animals.

Dr. Bridget D. and assistant were A M A Z I N G with our Japanese chin Chi Chi who is typically an absolute terror when it is time for her shots. They were so patient, calm and gentle!! I was beyond impressed and extremely thankful.

Very well organized and thorough. Brought my new Boston Terrier here for an overall checkup. They got me in quickly and went above and beyond. The kicker? They still had me in their records from visits with another pup several years ago.

Thank you to Dr.Hess and to your team for your extensive knowledge on how to handle nervous cat and their anxious human. Our first visit was a charm, as the first time, Racaille and I left with a positive experience from the Veterinary. I would like to add that say the prices were overall affordable as we've also received a 20% off discount on first exam on new client. We will be back! Thanks to MidCity Veterinary Hospital
