How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Fort Johnson Vet Clinic

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Friendly, affordable, and decently easy to get an appointment. Being seen by the vets is another story. Took an hour and 45 minutes before we were seen by the vet. Once the vet was in the room the appointment wasn't very long. My appointment was at 11:00. I ended up leaving at 13:45 (1:45) after finally being seen and when it was all said and done. 2 hours and 45 of sitting in a room is a little excessive in my opinion. Update: much better service and the vets didn't take long at all. I was in and out in under an hour and that was after I had questions for the vet and vet tech!

Wonderful staff, clean clinic, and affordable prices! When I married military and adopted our first dog as a couple from a friend, we took our dog to the vet clinic off base she was used to seeing. When I had issues with the vet himself and the outrageous prices, I decided to go to the vet clinic on base. At every duty station we've been to after that, we have taken our dog to the vet on post. They've listened to our concerns and the Fort Polk Vet Clinic has helped us with all of our dog's problems and given us so much advice. We are adopting a puppy here soon and will be taking her to the same clinic since we are very happy!

Excellent on-post option for pet care. Affordable. I highly recommend the Fort Polk Vet. No boarding and some limitations for surgical care. I recommend having a local Vet as well. We use Brandon Veterinarian in Leesville. They're great too.
