How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Abita Veterinary Practice

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Getting to Know Your Veterinarian

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.

Breed Specific Health Considerations

Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.

We're so pleased with the time, effort, and patience that Dr. Emily and her staff put into our dog's care. They have a wealth of knowledge and information to be able to help care for our dog. They take the time to answer all your questions that you may have, and Dr. Emily also explains everything to you about what is going on with your pet in terms that you can understand. We are traveling from out of state here in the south this winter, and it's been wonderful being able to find someone that we can trust with our pets. Thank you so much, Emily. You have been super helpful. Sincerely, Scott, Becky, and "Daisy" Waldron from Michigan

Fabulous as always. I called yesterday at 1 pm to ask for a nail trim on my 170 lb. Great Dane. But, asked for today... Guess what? Today at 2 pm we got our nails done. Now that's accommodating!

From shots to surgery they fully take care of your animals with complete care and overwhelming knowledge. They even boarded our animal to ensure the aftercare was up to par. Could not ask for a better Veterinarian!

I absolutely love this clinic. They have taken care of my dogs and been so nice to them. We had to put down our precious Bella today and they were so comforting. I would recommend them to any of your loved pets.

Kelly was the only person I communicated with in regard to my puppy so I can only speak on her. She is rude and extremely insensitive. This is not a person who should be working with people or animals. My puppy was not promptly offered treatment and passed away at this clinic. With better caring staff, ill always wonder if she may have been able to make it.
