How to Save Money at Carroll County Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I want to say thank for for the very compassionate end of life service provided today for Morris, my 15 year old cat. Everyone was so kind and caring. Thank you for making a painful experience less stressful and painful for me and Morris.

I want to say how much I appreciate the workers and the Vet I seen yesterday Dr Bowling was absolutely amazing to my dog I had to bring him in for pancreatitis and he is a rescue I've had for a long time but he was mistreated when I got him and it has affected him since me getting him. I'll never get him out of it. But yesterday Dr Bowling made things so much easier for him and not just him but for me also and I feel she made it easier for her and the workers also. She listens and she isn't in a rush and she understands how and why my dog is the way he is. He likes women more than men cause a man was very very mean to him. He also has very bad anxiety going to the vet. They allowed us to wait in the truck and called when they was ready for us. That helped a lot. Again thank you Dr Bowling for all you done yesterday and thank you for taking all the time to listen and make sure we got what we needed to get done. I couldnt thank you enough and to the staff also. I think it's best to see Dr Bowling from here on out especially with this particular dog. He is my world and I love him to death. But before finding Dr. Bowling I was balling crying trying to figure out what vet I was going to take him to not every vet works with my dog so well. And I understand it's hard when they are growling and trying to bite (even though a muzzle is on) and they lose control of their bowels cause their anxiety is so bad not everyone one understands how hard it can be but she sure did and a dog that has been beat on it's hard for them to trust anyone. At the end of the day I can't say thank you enough for working with my dog and me. Thanks Carroll County Animal Clinic from the bottom of my heart 💞

Be very very cautious, the saying goes "you get what you pay for" and for a service like this it's more than true... i went here for 2 cats 2 different times and had 2 different nightmares. my first cat had a UTI, very normal for cats. they took him back there and sucked every dime out of us to get shots, tests and the whole nine yards knowing we were young and dumb at the time, we walked away with a +$200 bill and the medicine gave our cat an allergic reaction that messed up his brain and made him wobble and jitter like he drank too much for days. it was some sort of neurological reaction and me and my wife thought maybe it was just a one off instance due to his genetics or something until we took our other cat there for a neuter. they finish and we bring him home and they didn't sew him up right... he came meowing to us in pure pain and we felt so bad for him. we called and they told us to bring him in and we drove the 45 minutes there to fix there screw up. we got there and it felt shady, not many words were exchanged. they took him back there sewed him up and sent us on our way without as much as an apology or any anesthesia, we could hear him screaming from the waiting room. if i could put 0 stars i would. i was reading the reviews and the people seem like bots

I am so grateful to Mrs. Hannah and Dr. Mikkuah for the special care they provide Zuko, my Great Dane. He gets very anxious at the vet, but they handle him with such strength, courage, and care. I truly appreciate them, and wish more vets had the compassion like they do. All of my animals, including my rescues, will continue to receive care there. Thank you for all you do; you don't get enough credit for the profession you face daily. You will always have a special place in my heart -

Dr. Bolin answered my message promply and met us at the clinic on a Saturday evening. Our beloved dog, Lily, had been kicked in the head by a horse and was in status epilepticus. Dr. Bolin was quick, efficient, and caring. We appreciate her kindness and help immensely.
