How to Save Money at Paws and Claws Animal Hospital formerly Noah's Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Wonderful staff. I have a brown tabby 6yr old boy, he felt so safe while there. Very clean facility and has a clear love for the animals that come through their door. 100% recommend.

We were super pleased with the care & service provided by Noah's team. They performed surgery on our Bella and she is healing well. Their costs are reasonable which is so appreciated with the current economy. I recommend taking advantage of their wellness plans which are very affordable. Thanks Noah staff!

We took our two (now one) dogs to Noah’s Animal Hospital in Wheaton for care. First dog was diagnosed with a torn ACL and we were quoted upwards of $10,000 to repair. Needless to say, we looked elsewhere for care. While on the operating room table the new vet told us he was fine and needed no surgery. He’s running like normal today with no surgery. Second dog was brought in to Noah’s Animal Hospital in Wheaton with joint swelling and in respiratory distress, and what do you know, they diagnosed her with a torn ACL. I told the vet they were wrong, and they re-diagnosed her with Lyme Disease without a test, gave a script, and sent us on our way. 12 hours later she passed. 12 hours after seeing a vet that saw nothing emergent. 12 hours after Noah’s Animal Hospital wanted to perform a knee surgery on my dying dog. 12 hours after it took someone with an art degree to tell them there was something other than a bad knee going on. If you love your animals, Noah’s Animal Hospital in Wheaton is the last place you should seek care.

Dr. Miller is literally the best vet and human ever! If I could give him a million stars, I would. He cares SO much about the animals he cares for. My dog, Wrigley, came in severely ill and we weren’t sure if he was going to make it. We couldn’t afford to bring him to another emergency vet for intensive care so Dr. Miller did everything in his power to help Wrigley. I know in my heart that Wrigley would not have survived without him. Dr. Miller never gave up on Wrigley or us (as pet owners) and that means the world to us. He consistently called me for updates. He also quickly returns my phone calls whenever I have any concerns. He is always there to support us and guide us in any way. He is also easy to talk to and the whole office feels like a second family! All of the staff members at Noah’s Animal hospital have been so amazing and you can honestly tell that they love what they do! If you are in need of a vet, please please please see Dr. Miller! He is truly the best!

I absolutely adore Noah’s Animal Hospital and their friendly, attentive, and professional staff. NAH has made the transition into first time animal owner into a breeze. With the compassion they show to literally everyone and their little fur companions, it eases myself, and my dog, walking into the clinic for his exams. They go out of their way to make sure that everyone feels safe and accommodated, and will go into detail about recommendations, medication, and etc., so that you are comfortable enough leaving the clinic with as much information as possible. Thank you to everyone that makes NAH so spectacular and calming for everyone, and making each visit as calming as possible for everyone involved. Charlie and I appreciate it!
