How to Save Money at Green Family Veterinary Practice

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Just took my dog to Green Family Vet for our first visit and we had such a great experience! They just opened this month and are exactly what our area needed. We got $50 off our first exam, which was a nice surprise. Dr. Green and the whole team were amazing, super friendly and really took the time to make both me and my dog feel comfortable. The clinic is beautiful, clean, and you can tell they put a lot of thought into making it welcoming for both pets and people. I’m so glad we found them and definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a new vet!

So happy to have found this brand new veterinary practice! They just opened and everything is very clean! Brought my new puppy Kenji here and he and I both loved it! All the staff are great, very kind and accommodating! Their availability is great, you can get in whenever you need, no waiting for days or weeks! The pricing of their services is reasonable as well! Dr. Green was awesome, very thorough at explaining everything and detail oriented which I love. That was the best AVS I’ve ever seen! Keep up the good work all! Will be coming here from now on for sure!

Everyone at Green Family Vet Clinic is absolutely wonderful. From the first call to try and get my sick dog in for a visit they were amazing, kind and reassuring. Check in process was quick and efficient, vet tech was so sweet and Dr. Green was incredibly thorough in his examination. My girl who is normally slow to warm up to new people was immediately drawn to them. Dr. Green was confident in his diagnosis and aftercare plan, which eased my worries considerably. I would highly recommend anyone with animals to this practice, they are truly amazing!! Thank you guys for the amazing care provided!

I was looking for a new vet since moving back to the area, and my neighbor recommended that I go to Green Family vet. A little nervous at first those nerves quickly disappeared! From the front staff , to the CVT Julie, I and my dog Axl were very comfortable! We saw Dr. Green and he was so gentle with Axl and explained EVERYTHING! He also got on the floor with Axl (which a lot of vets don’t do in my past visits to other vets) The pricing was also very reasonable and transparent before anything was done! Julie the CVT gave me updates while I was waiting, an emergency came in, and made sure Axl and I were not forgotten. Axl loved Julie! She gave him lots of treats and attention! Thank you to the whole team! I’m proud to say that Axl and I have found a new vet! He can’t wait to come back and eat all the treats! If you are looking for a new vet, please check out this group! They are amazing!

Great service and very attentive to every detail. I brought my sweet and friendly Coco tuxedo cat in on a last minute appointment. Everyone from front desk to vet assistant Stela and Dr. Green were great listeners and very professional. It was my first time bringing in my cat, he was comfortable and exploring the room. I am very happy to have found them just minutes away from home. I already booked Coco's next appointment. I 100% recommend them . My experience bringing Coco to the Vet's office was the best! Thank you!
