How to Save Money at Hello Harmony Vet

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

It’s so stressful and hard to say goodbye to our dearly loved pets. After doing some research online I found Dr Rider and read all the reviews. I took a chance with a vet I’ve not had the pleasure of working with before which I found scary. Dr Rider was a true blessing. She was very compassionate and gentle. She made a very hard moment just a little bit easier. I really can not thank her enough. My sweet boy went peacefully outside surrounded by his family. Thank you Dr Rider from the bottom of my heart for everything you did for my family and Moo.

My 10 1/2 year-old golden and I love Dr. Rider. Denver has been a patient of hers for almost 3 years. She is professional, kind, very knowledgeable, and truly cares about my boy. He receives maintenance acupuncture with some chiropractics every four weeks (more frequently if needed) and also general and specific nutritional guidance. He developed a non healing eye ulcer in November/ December of 2024 from an eyelid surgery and I asked Dr. Rider if there was any treatment that she could perform to help the ulcer heal. She completed two sessions of acupuncture around his eye about four days apart. I was able to see a positive change in his eye within about 36 hours after the first treatment and his eye was completely healed within about 10 to 14 days. We were able to free him from his cone that he had been wearing for a month and cancel his appointment in the Ophthalmology Department at the University of Wisconsin. It was a very happy day. Denver and I highly recommend Dr. Rider to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, compassionate and attentive veterinarian.

Dr Rider is awesome. She took care of my elderly chihuahua who had heart issues, and when it was time helped her to pass in our home instead if having to take her to a clinic. Her caring and compassion is truly remarkable. I am amazed at her gentle touch and massage technics.

I can’t imagine having to load up our sweet girl, who hates car rides, who hates going to the vet, having to have her pass away on a cold table, with limited time because there are other appointments and then to drive home sobbing - this is such a blessing. Dr Rider was incredible, compassionate and I would not have had this any other way. Thank you so much for doing what you do, I cannot imagine it’s easy but we are so grateful.

Dr. Rider is nothing short of amazing. The courage she possesses to do what she does is astounding. She provided so much compassion, sincerity, and kindness to my baby Cooper while he was crossing over. Dr. Rider made the entire experience manageable for us at such a devastating time, especially me. She not only texted with me the night before instructing me on how to keep him comfortable, she came first thing the next morning. She did not have to go out of her way to do that but she did and it meant the world to me. I'll never forget her reassurance that we were making the right decision. She treated Coop like he was her own and I can't thank her enough. I wanted the experience to be painless and peaceful for him and she did just that. I'm crying as I write this because it's so wonderful to know there are such good people in this world. What she does day after day is hard. She is very much appreciated and highly recommend by me.
