How to Save Money at True Vet Sugar Grove
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I had a wonderful experience at True Vet today! I'm visiting my parents and my dog decided to take her anxiety out on a fleece blanket (AKA eating a large chunk of it). I was concerned that my dog couldn't pass it on her own, so I called and said they could get her in right away. I brought her there, got right in, and I felt welcome. Place is clean! I feel like the vet listened to me and took an appropriate assessment of my dog. We looked at what was missing from the blanket and determined to do an x ray (which I thought was very appropriate). They showed us the photos and we decided to monitor and give her some fluids intravenously (among other small steps). I felt that the course of action was really appropriate and I didn't feel like anything was excessive or gouging me. I felt they took really good care of my dog. I felt that the price was very reasonable and appropriate. I loved that I got in right away and got peace of mind and a course of action within a couple of hours. Highly recommend this place!

My Daughter-in-Law referred us to True Vet Sugar Grove so we could get a second opinion for our dog Theo. I’m so glad we brought him here, Dr. Mason (who is wonderful and oh so thorough) determined that we did NOT have to remove our dogs tail due to cancer, because the growth was a cyst and not a tumor. Dr. Mason is now helping us tackle other issues our dog has going on. Best second opinion ever, and we are now going to stay with True Vet for all of Theo’s needs.

Such a great experience! We brought our dog in after a scary episode, and the whole team was amazing. They were super kind, quick to help, and very responsive to all our questions. You can really tell they care about both the pets and the owners. They made us feel comfortable and reassured the entire time. Definitely recommend this vet clinic, they deserve all the stars! 🐶💛

I was able to get in this morning early. They have an online system that is extremely easy to use. Dr. True and his staff were both kind and thorough with my elderly dog. My dog can get anxious at times and his staff did an awesome job in trimming her nails, expressing glands that were clogged, and doing the routine vaccines. I was also very excited to learn about the walk in options. With having an elderly dog with gland issues, it is great to have this option to allow her comfort instead of waiting days to get in when she is vomiting and not eating. The physical location is also very nicely decorated. I’m happy to have this option so close to home. Thank you for getting us in last minute and we will be back!

We had a great first experience at this practice. Contacted True.Vet when our regular office couldn’t get us an appointment for an urgent visit for several days. Scheduled a next day appt with True.Vet. The team there was excellent - front desk was friendly and welcoming, the tech was very thorough and kind, and Dr Zebold was wonderful. She addressed all concerns and questions, was patient and created a calm environment for my kitty (Bailey). Treatment for her condition was explained and executed flawlessly. I was very impressed with the billing system and transparency of what was being charged. Overall A+, especially for a new practice! Very impressed and will be back. I was even given a free chip clip and who doesn’t need one of those! :)
