How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Animal welfare center

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Getting to Know Your Veterinarian

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.

Breed Specific Health Considerations

Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.

Caught some ferals for spay. The staff was so helpful with suggestions on how to catch them. Helped me once I was at the shelter haul them all in as they are crying and pooping everywhere. Thank you Cheyenne for getting me in!! No more kittens for this crew! They will stay in the shed for now then be released back to the wild.

We took our pug here for a neuter and were very pleased with the clinic. The clinic is clean, the staff are kind and professional, and the prices are very reasonable. When using this clinic’s services, please consider paying a little extra as this clinic runs primarily on outside donations. Happy to report our pug recovered very quickly and is still getting used to the cone 🤣

Watch out for being ripped off as I just was. Have had other animals spayed/neutered here without issue but will never be back. My total when I arrived to pick up my animal was considerably more than it was supposed to be. I asked and they said “Oh, she had fleas so we had to treat her.” No, she did not have fleas. I have other pets in our home and none of them have fleas. We had also given a flea prevention medication within the last month as well, so I find it very strange that my pet somehow had fleas and had to be treated at a considerable extra cost. What a joke.
