How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Lockport Animal Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

Absolutely the worst experience ever! After a year and a half of missed diagnosis for the same condition and thousands of dollars spent they couldn’t help my poor suffering Dog. My wife and I finally after Lockport Hospital said we should get another diagnosis we went to a Hospital in Lemont Thank God we did because after being there for a 15 minute checkup the found the problem and had another doctor come in and confirm. It was never about how much the doctor cost it was about curing our poor Dog from the terrible pain he was in, I believe the doctors at the Lockport Hospital should go by to school and learn how to do there jobs! No one should sort foot in that place!!! I feel used and completely ripped off!!!!

I've been taking my 3 cats (and now dog) to Dr. Caffarini for over 13 years! He & all the staff & doctors have taken such good care of my fur babies. When my Miss Kitty was diagnosed with cancer, they took good care of her & kept in contact with the cancer vet. They helped me thru that horrible process. Lockport Animal Hospital has a caring & loving staff! They take their time with your fur babies & are patient with all your questions. And we love the new building!

We have been bringing our dog to this vet for over 4 years, since he was a little puppy. They have always treated Kevin with care and compassion. As you can probably tell from the pictures, Kevin isn't a big fan of going to the doctor. We are lucky that Kevin has had a relatively healthy life to this point. His only procedure was his neutering, which went very smoothly.

We have had heartbreak with them and miracle outcomes with them. My Shiba Inu Yukai had a massive bladder stone, the vet suggested we try a food before a very expensive surgery... the prognosis was not too hopeful but the Veterinarian did say that it was worth a try. The food worked amazing and Yukai passed the stone and is still healthy and running around with her siblings who are 12+ years younger. ( I need to apologize to the vet but I truly cannot remember your name at the moment, I work in retail and talk to hundreds of people a day.) My other Shiba puppies that just got their 1 yr exam like it there. My girl Iris loves everyone that looks at her lol... but my little boy Diesel was the heartbreak that the LAH did such an amazing job with. Diesel was our mini pin/Jack Russell mix that was diagnosed with diabetes. We kept up with his care and treatment for over 3 months. Diesel died in my arms after my daughters said goodnight to him. The office was so amazing, they got stamps of his paws ( which my wife has as a tattoo on her foot) , sent us a beautiful card, and they were so truly sad for our loss... This animal hospital is amazing!!!
